Original alloy sizes

Hello all.

I'm planning on moving to the 7 spoke mk1 TT alloys by Ronal which I believe are 16inch by 7Inches.

I think the conversation with my insurance provider will be MUCH simpler if I can tell them a 16 inch alloy in this width was an original factory option.

I presume that some of the alloys came in this width but I can't find anything definitive.

Can anyone please help me with original A2 alloy specs?

HELP!

Hi,

Standard A2 16" wheels are 16x6" ET35 which is narrower than other models. E.g. the Mk1 A3 was available with wheels which looked like the A2 "SE" 6 spoke 16" allows, but the A3 wheels where wider at 16x7" ET44.

That said, A1 and MK1 TT wheels are popular replacements on the A2 and they will often be wider than the standard A2 wheels.

This thread might help:

Thank you Andrew.

That is very definitive. I think confirming to them that there are 7inch standard A2 alloys (albeit a 17inch) will allay some fears but you never know - common sense sometimes doesn't get a look in when chatting to insurance agents!
