After buying a replacement a few weeks ago I was particularly annoyed when about two weeks into using it, it broke and would not stay closed. So I took it apart and discovered that the little pin had disappeared. A panel pin, a pair of side cutters, the bench grinder and some Gorilla Glue later and it's fixed. Now having worked out exactly how they work I've realised that I can fix my old one - which broke about 5 years ago and had to be pulled out manually. So if anyone has an intact spring from a broken ashtray I be happy to pay a couple of quid and/or postage for it. Thanks.
