Unknown fault codes

Hello,
Does anyone know a website where I can see a list of known diagnostic fault codes?

My engine warning light came on today, and I have scanned it and have two fault codes (this is 3 days after having a new alternator fitted) the codes that have come up in the scan are:

16946
17439

Does anyone know what these are, or can anyone point me in the right direction please so I can look these up?

Thanks

Lee

Thanks Boris, that's great

The first one appears to be: 16946/P0562/001378 - System Voltage: Too Low (so I think this was an old code related to the issue with the alternator, just replaced) and the other one looks to be: 17439/P1031/004145 - Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (N316): Setpoint Not Reached

So will do a bit of investigating on that one

Thanks

Lee

Just an update on this, I had a look at the vacuum unit in the engine bay and it looks like the rod is broken at the bottom, so called out the AA who sent out a chap and confirmed it was likely that which is causing the issue, so off to the garage tomorrow to get sorted.

The AA guy advised that the part is probably only about £16 but the labour is likely to be around the £300 mark. hopefully my AA BRC will cover it.

Yes the part is not expensive but the labour is the killer the inlet manifold is not easy to get off and then they need to free up the metal inlet flaps. There are a lot of gaskets needed also including injector seals. Hope your as covers you as that will help. Good luck and look forward to reading a happy out come. Cheers Mike

Hi Lee,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but 17439 is the notorious FSI inlet manifold flap problem - seems to happen (design weak point) to all FSI with higher mileage, mine even happened at 60,000miles. Out of interest what is yours?

There is hours of reading on the site if you wish to browse. The full repair is a long job.

Expensive if you go professional - you are looking at circa £700 at an independent and I bet double or much more with Audi. It is a specialist job and only entrust to a garage in whom you have complete faith.

Even the DIY route is not cheap, say £250 in parts, plus I would recommend having the injectors professionally cleaned (£100) and replacing the also notorious coolant death pipe (£30) while you have access.

Lastly if your engine seems to be working fine then you you could simply ignore it for now, I did for some years, got fed up wth the eml showing in the end (although some members reported no eml??). Apparently you lose about 5% in mpg and performance but it depends on the failed state of the manifold flaps.

Lee. Your post and the post above were not there when I started to reply but got distracted. Sorry for any duplication/behind the times. Pleased you have some insurance. £16 !!!, more like £116 if it's the bit I think it is.
