Hi all

Joined the site a couple of days ago.

I currently drive a VW Golf R that will soon come to the end of its lease. I have decided not to take out another lease so that left me with a conundrum. My other car is a 2008 SL500 that has only 30,000 miles but is a bit ridiculous to have as a daily driver. Plus circumstances have led to regular running up and down the M1. So what to do?

Not sure what, but something rekindled an old desire to have an A2. Cool, techie, economical, practical. What's not to like?

Needless to say, it didn't take long to land on a2oc, and what a find. With such a dedicated group of enthusiasts and some very capable specialists out there (I wouldn't know one end of a spanner from a hammer) it was an easy call to make. So now I am on the search. Tips welcome!

After a lot of nosing around the site and crawling over eBay and Autotrader, I think I now know that my ideal is an FSI. In the past week, I have narrowly missed out on two cars, one grey and one misano red c/storm. Some further nosing led me to the ultra-cool Red Snail of Pocoloco, which will definitely provide me with some inspiration.

Audis in the Park is not far from me. It would be rude not to come along, so hope to meet some folks there and chat all things A2.

Oh, and I bought an A4 climate panel thanks to the sharp spotting of Andy. Oh, and I bought a set of pepperpots from Germany! And a full 2004 brochure. Yikes, this is getting dangerous!!

Sounds like you are well and truly bitten by the A2 bug already

Look forward to saying hi at AITP

Like your style. Most people buy an A2 and then sort out the the climate control button problem, not buy a climate control and then find an A2 to fit round it!!! Welcome Luke.

Andy

Don' t know why I am posting so much this evening???

Welcome along to the club, good to have you onboard. There's a nice looking fsi that came on Autotrader today with a full votex kit in silver. I'll try to get a link but shouldn't be too hard to find as there are onky 54 A2's for sale on Autotrader :-O

Thanks all. I'll be checking out a couple of cars on Saturday, including the Votex kitted one, if it's still available.

Do cars get traded at AITP? If so, might be worth seeing what's there as well.

Not sure how Luke entered the thread as my name is Steve - suspect it was an auto spelling thing on Vonnie's post, now corrected!

Two pepperpots rolled up today. Hopefully the other two will arrive tomorrow!

As mentioned on another thread, I headed off last bank holiday weekend to Norfolk to buy the A2 being sold by Prisoner. Bought sight unseen, based on a phone call and a couple of emails, with money transferred in advance to Prisoner in Thailand. What could go wrong?

I had a good feeling about this car, and it all turned out well. It's a 2004 Misano Red SE Colour Storm 1.4 petrol, that had only 39,000 miles on the clock. Fully serviced over the years, strangely only one stamp in the book, but all the paperwork evidence was present. It has climate (all buttons perfect!), 5 spoke star design alloys and Symphony audio. And unexpectedly, a handbrake tray! Plus cruise retrofitted by A2 cars in 2014, along with a thorough service. Took it back to A2 and had an interim service, all fluids done, and aircon reconditioned. All is well. Today I swapped the wheels for pepperpots.
