Rear springs and seats

Hi

Those springs on Ebay say they are for an A2 without OSS.

Mister Auto have these Coil Spring's for A2 with OSS

KYB - Ref: RH6594

The lower spring isolators are dealer only - as far as I am aware. I tried to get some from eBay but all that listed them came back with "no longer available" so off to Audi I went and guess what - they were cheaper. So I recommend seeing your local dealer for the sport top rubbers.
As for the spring I have never purchased springs other than after market lowering springs.
Cheers Mike

Thanks. That part number says it's for vehicles with standard suspension and panoramic roof. Standard suspension is surely SE? Mine is a sport.

That would explain why I cannot find anyone selling them. I keep being told the SE items will fit, of course they will, but they will make the rear 10mm higher.

Thanks a lot

the seats are not and the springs have a code on them in colour.

The only non OEM who cares is Spidan. And I wouldn't assume anything about the rear ride height until you've actually put the springs on and let them settle.

Hi. For any folks that fitted spidan 49546 at the rear I have a query. Here is a picture of 49546 beside the spring that came out (AUDI I believe). Is the difference in length to be expected? Just checking before I fit.

Look a bit big to me! If it any use I have a new Suplex 03208 ready to fit It is 34 cms uncompressed length.

What coloured dots is the old rear spring marked with? This will enable someone to look up what OEM part number it is.

It might be an original sports spring. If so, it may be useful to other members if you could make a note of some of the specifications, such as how much it weighs in grams, what the diameter of the wire is (such as 9.75mm, 10.25mm, etc. you might want to take off 0.1mm to 0.2mm to account for the thickness of the paint), and how many coil turns it is (looks like 7.5 turns), and also approximately how long the spring is in millimetres (although being a used spring, the current length may be less than when it was new).

You can look up the specification of the Spidan 49546 on the gknautomotive.com online catalogue or autodoc.co.uk

Spidan 49546 matches OEM part number 8Z0511115AS

On gknautomotive.com you can see a photo of Spidan 49546, and it looks like it has 8 coil turns. Having less coil turns such as 7.5 coil turns instead of 8 coil turns makes the spring harder to compress, all other things being equal. In combination with the much reduced length of the spring, these are the two reasons that I suspect that the old spring is a sports spring.

Thanks for that info. I'll check the dots later on (am away from the car now again). Amazing the number of spring parts from Audi! Can the back of the car varied that much across models?
