So, finally scored this gadget

An original A2 engine cover protection. My spare engine cover is now safe for scratches.

Looks more like a bonnet protector than an engine cover.....

Bonnet, yes that is also a nice word

The manual described it as a "engine cover" protector.

From German eBay
You can still buy them at the Audi dealer. Or direct from the Datex compagny but then it hasn't the A2 text on it.
