Some pictures from my past!

I have posted some of these a while ago but I just came across some old image files.

My Business I opened in the late 80s. Many didn't "get" the name and we were often asked "Can I speak to Ed please"

This was one of the scariest cars we ever had in the showroom. I bought it with a range rover 4 wheel drive system mated to a Lancia engine ???
So I thought "MMMM, Range rover Gearbox? why not a Rover V8 engine?" so it had to be done. The engine was mounted in the rear facing backwards
The gearbox tunnel was huge and so the only floor space either side of that was tiny, no room for seats. SO I moulded the floor into a seat shape!

I only drove it once around the block and scared myself to death.

This was the one that was most fun, by far.
It too had a Rover V8, mid mounted and was a real "sleeper" I drove this around for over a year.
I even took it on the drag strip when I was racing my Escort (again a Rover V8 powered car)
It blew the doors off a full race car!!!

The rust was deliberate and the metal box just hid the engine.

This was my street legal race car.
Rover V8 bored out to 4 litre and TWO stages of Nitros Oxide injection.
Standing quarter mile in 10 seconds and genuine (electronically timed) 0 to 60 of 2.1 seconds!!!!

This early shot shows the race car being towed by my custom Mark 3 Cortina
Guess what engine that had in it? Yes another Rover V8 engine
The V8 engine was lighter that the 2.0 4 cylinder!

Soon after this shot I tubbed the rear and got the wheels inside the arches.

Then there was my last big project (before the A2 that is)
Not a Rover V8 engine this time but a huge 8.2 litre Chevvy V8 this time
Street legal but built for the strip 4.0 seconds 0 to 60 (due to the weight and the aerodynamics of a brick)

This shot is in the centre of Windsor and shows the hydraulics on the lowest setting.
I tricked up a pocket remote to operate the hydraulics and used to stand on the other side of the road and make it "dance" and drop remotely, GREAT fun seeing the reaction from the tourists

Apologies to those that have seen many of these before, but it would be good if others can show us some of their previous cars, embarrassing or otherwise?

Very interesting, Steve! But surely there is enough room in an Audi A2 for a Rover V8 engine? LOL!

LOL, it is entirely possible, but I am too old to build it and too skint to pay someone to do it.

But it would be a great project.

Fascinating, thanks for sharing, come on Steve, you said, and I quote ' although mentally I still think I am in my thirties' unquote, so get on with the rover V8 A2.

Wish I had pictures of all the cars I did, have a few of some of them, somewhere, put V6's into Cortina's and a Granada Scorpio that 'everyone' knew was 'untouchable' and not to mess with :)
