Back with another query which might completely resolve the a/c issue.
VCDS gives: Potentiometer On Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (G92) 30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
Now I know what that is and replacing is is fiddly.
The other symptom to verify this is that, the left-hand side (passenger) vent is always significantly colder than the middle vents and the driver's side vent. I have read up on how the motors work on the A2 and this suggests that indeed the temperature motor is stuck or unable to do the full end-to-end motion (I can hear it move when going between warm/cold).
Do you think the above statement holds true?
