Engine vibration

I’m onto my 4th a2 now. This one is a 2005 1.4 Petrol. The problem with this is when I get the clutch to biting point and then continue to let it out the whole engine vibrates and shakes like it has a loose engine mounting.
I’ve checked the mountings but they are all serviceable.
Driving along is perfect otherwise.
No problem changing gear and no slipping clutch.
No vibration once I am driving.
No smell of burning oil on the clutch.
Does this model have a dual mass flywheel although there is no knocking sound from the flywheel
Thanks. Brian.

Hi Brian, no your car does not have a DMF, that's just for the TDi 90. Did you check the mount under the gearbox to subframe?

This is likely to be your clutch, is the pedal a bit hard to press all the way?

Thanks for the replies. Took the bottom mounting off to check it and it looks ok. Not broken or ripped.
Looks like the gearbox needs to come off then.
Is gearbox removal a difficult job.
