1.4 Petrol Engine Cuts Out Epc Light Comes On

Had A 2001 A2 3 Weeks The Engine Has Cut Out About 3 Times And Epc Light Comes On But After Restarting Its Ok .its Not Happened To Me Yet Only The Mrs .also Setting Off/biting Point Is A Bit Of A Night Mare Have To Rev Hard To Not Stall It .anybody Give Me A Clue With These Problems ?great Car But Need To Sort These Things
 
You really need a scan to see if there are specific clues to work on.

If there is anyone in your area with VAG-COM, then that's the way to go.

For the record, I'm based just outside Manchester and have a full version of the software.

what is the EPC Light?

is it the yellow/amber ourline of engine style light?

mine did this last week.... and started running very rough... its the coils...
 
epc light is small round one with epc written .Any ideas with clutch prob ive read it may be common on this model?

Both of our 1.4 petrols have/had the same problem with getting a smooth getaway. We have to rev to about 2000 rpm otherwise it bogs down.
The clutch is a bit more like a switch than a gradual device but this seems to be the way with these cars. It's possibly something to do with the electronic throttle as well - or am I mistaken here?
