Just wondering what peoples opinions on orange coloured A2s?

It must be a very rare colour is it?

I went to have a look at one this morning, i really liked the colour

Although im not sure, i think the A2 is a very classy little car, and maybe in orange its not as classy as say: grey, silver or black. It does look good though and i like the rarety factor!

Hi

I found out that Audi only imported and sold through their network 7 'SILVER'
1.4 TDI 90 colour storm models so they must be very rare indeed.
I didn't think they did 'SILVER STORMS till I carried out a bit of research on them.

I have a 2004 A2 brochure, it does list silver being a colour for the colourstorm. Although ive got to say, i didnt realise it was available until i saw that, as ive never seen a silver one!

No pics of the orange A2, i supose i should have taken some!

Its for sale, i think, infact, its the only orange one on autotrader. Its a 1.4SE with 104K miles. Its advertised for £3550 on the trader, but on its windscreen it has £4550!

Im not sure if the seller has realised its the only oranage one and increased the price, as he did mention that.

Its in very good condition though, full service history, almost a years MOT, the climate seems to work well too and it looks superb in that colour.

Im considering it, although i would like a TDi as ive got the same 1.4TDi as the A2 now and think its fantastic.

We shall have a think! :)

Audi did produce a sort of metallic burnt orange on early A2's, don't think it was popular for some reason:rolleyes: Each to their own i suppose but IMO it devalues the car to £3550 !

Now, that is a very bright orange! and not the orange im meaning.

This is it:

I can see why some wouldnt like it, i think it may prove a hard thing to sell. Although its worth £3550 as similar ones are around that.

Although as i said, its not a classy colour and the A2 should be in a nice colour, but its nice and rare!

Actually in the metal it suits the colour well.

Jaipur red? I'm sure thats the colour of the A2 in the larger picture.

Gotta say, I like the look of the orange colour storm.

Up until Sept 05 there were only 7 orange A2s in the UK (0.038%!!). I doubt if more than a handful got sold in the remaining months.

Hello,

well i have an orange a2 (see above!)...i obviously really like the colour, it is a bit different so not to everyones taste, but it does really suit the car...especially with the open-sky i think. It's pearlescent so can look different shades in different light....looks best in the bright sun i would say.

The colour is the Jaipur Red that was mentioned above, Audi produced this colour in 1999-2001 i think so that's why it's on some of the early A2's. Have also seen A4's and A3's in this but definitely suits the A2 the best.

There must be more than 7 though! I've seen at least 4 others while i've had the car, at least 2 of those are based in Sheffield where i am, and i looked at buying another one years ago before i bought my first A2. Think that some must have been classed as red by the DVLA due to the name Audi gave the colour?

Orange is a colour that has a bit of history with Audi. The Audi 100 coupe from the 70's came in a very similar shade of orange to Jaipur Red, that was a lovely car...and the prototype of the audi quattro spyder (a forerunner of the R8 no less!) from the early 90's was finished in orange:

...so it is almost an Audi heritage colour!

More recently Audi have also produced other cars in orange...think they call it papaya orange and maybe this was used for the orange A2 colour storm, though i don't think this was ever available in the UK?

Anyway! You should buy it if you like it...ignore the naysayers, look at how well the Dutch are doing in Euro 2008, and they have by far the best kit! The future's bright, the future's......

Many years ago I had a Ford Escort Mk1 in Pheonix Orange - brilliant colour. My A2 is silver but I am lucky to have an A3 as a company car. I chose toucan yellow - you won't believe the comments from colleagues - or the company secretary whose comment was "Who the f^%& let him buy that"...."umm you did!" repleid a colleague!! It's a cheerful car to drive and seems to have a magic pass as I am always let out of junctions etc.

Had a black A3 for a day and that was depressing!

Go for orange and smile :D

Phoenix Vista Orange is a Lovely colour
I had a mk2 1300 sport with it

It is a great colour, good to hear peoples opinions about it. Although im not sure how long i could live with the colour for, i think grey, red, or black would be my choice - and it would need to be a diesel too!

I saw a car in a very similar colour today! It was a fiesta, although its a company colour - E.ON i think it said on the side.

There is also a BMW Z3 not too far away from me in a similar colour too.

It does suit te A2s shape well though.

It seems to me that the Jaipur Red in your post is different to the Orange colour storm - see pic below where there is a red and an orange colour storm - but I appreciate that light, film/cameras and computers can render colours differently.

I believe the DVLA relies on dealers to complete the registration details as there must be a 3% or 4% error in the data I have. Typical government dept using pencil and paper rather than machine readable vehicle IDs and links to manufacturers.

Yes the Jaipur Red definitely is different to the colour-storm orange...like i say i think this might be the 'papaya orange' that audi still produce on some cars today? However, someone else may confirm this, but i don't think the orange colour storm was ever available in the uk? Just the blue, red, yellow and apparently a few silver!?

Looks like it was dealers then that have recorded the early Jaipur Red models as red...wonder what it says on my v5??

Cheers

David

You are right! Papaya is a realy powerful orange. The jaipurred is just a light red (metallic, I think).
The color-storm colors are non-metallic effect paint.
