New head unit in 2005 Special Edition

Just picked up my new Special Edition 1.4Tdi 75 on Friday 13th (nothing bad happened though!). I had a Pioneer DEH-3500MP MP3 single slot unit in my old 2001 A2 which worked fine on the two front speakers. I've tried to connect the unit up to this one after removing the Concert II unit, but it wouldn't power on. I also noticed that there was a third connector that I couldn't connect (rear speakers?).

A friend of mine had a play about with the red and yellow wires and managed to sort ofget it working. The problem was that it was powered directly from the battery and didn't switch off when the key was removed from the ignition. Also, the rear speakers didn't work.

Forward a few days, and I had been to my local car audio shop who kindly lent me an adapter which had the three connectors which in turn connected to the two ISO connectors at the end of the Pioneer cable. Again, nothing until the unit was powered directly from the battery. The rear speakers seemed to work but were very quiet. I then asked in Halfords who told me that their system shows no differences from 2000 onwards. Just the facia adapters and the antenna booster parts showing.[2] They suggested that I speak to Audi, although I want to avoid this really (unless I have to).
Are there any adapters that I can use to get the head unit to work(part numbers etc)? I Appologise if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find any real answer to this question.

Thanks for your time reading this rather long post.

Any help would be appreciated.[8D]

Thanks
Dave

Your new A2 has CAN-Bus wiring for the Head unit (all A2īs had this from 2002 onwards), so youīll need an adaptor to get the headunit to work. Unfortunately I donīt know any car audio shops in the UK, but maybe some other knowledgeable reader here on the forum can chime in..:-)

Bye, frido.

Thanks for your speedy response Frido, I'll have a search around on the Internet in the mean time. At least I know I'm not doing something wrong.
