Hi - I take it the tune is for a 75 rather than a 90
I Think most people who go for this mod have the 75 but you could ring or email AMD and see if they can help you out let us no how you get on .....

Typically AMD will tune either as they have both maps, so i'm sure if you inform them they'll do it, i can't comment as the whether it would be included in the group buy or not, i should think it would be though

OK I have spoken to Amd today and the group discount goes for any rolling road remap
including 1.4 , 1.4 Tdi 75,90, 1.6 Fsi
so regardless of which model A2 you have they can do something for you hope this helps .......

Hi there,

I'm not too familiar with this re-map business. I've looked through some of the other threads and noted one particularly good review of AmD. However I've still got some questions;

*What is a 'stage 1' remap?
*Does it involve going to AmD?
*How much extra Bhp and torque can I realistically expect to get ontop of my 75 little horses?
*Is their any risk to the engine or drive train etc or are the components designed to take the increased power i.e. is the only difference between the standard 75bhp and the standard 90bhp the way the engines tuned?
*If the engine goes 'pop' and I'm driving like a 'nun' who's liable?

thank you kindly!!! :)

Have you looked at
http://www.amdtechnik.com/products.bymodel.cfm?modelid=1
there is a fairly good expanation on the website of what Amd offer as far as torque and bhp increases , both are mentioned they quote an increase for the 75 of 22 thats a total of 97Bhp for a small/light car thats a sizeable increase .....
As for risk's to the engine plenty of people on this site have had remaps and i have not heard many people say that they have had problems of anysort so you will have to make your own mind up on that one ......

I think you will find that if you go to Amd and decide you want to go the stage 1 remap route then they will fully test your engine first to see if it is up to the job first i have not heard of anyones engine going Pop so you would have to be pretty unlucky ..........

Hope this helps a little im not a techie so there maybe other people on here better qualified to comment on your points ........

I Am not affiliated with Amd in anyway its just that we where offered the group discount ,i no we have tried this before but we have had a lot of new members join just lately who want more horseS so this is a way that you can all benifit from the group discount ........

Last thing if your drive like a nun then i suggest dont bother with a remap....

ps: nuns and drivin': its more like 'nuns on the run'...

Has this died a death, or are you still hoping for 10 volunteers? If so, I would be one, once I've confirmed that my 02 tdi SE (delivery next week) is running OK.

I looked at the thread re tuning etc. The 4 wheel alignment check and adjust at Elite Dagenham is 40 quid, well it was about 3 months ago, as opposed to 90 quid + Vat on the tuning site. Very comprehensive laser checking, but as my tame Volvo specialist said "bull**** baffles brains, not all of then adjustments claimed are possible. To be fair they did the A2 and said that some of the adjustments were not possible and only part changing MIGHT make a difference, but not worth doing for minute adjustments. I'm still very impressed with them, my son is going to them to change some tyres in the morning (it does look strange with the skinny tyre on) after tearing a large hole in the tyre on the kerb. To get there he passes no end of tyre sellers, probably as many as 20.
