A2 Pimping, Pimped Out Rides, Show Off Your Rides, Customising A2, Show Here !!

lol

Yeah it did:D

The Barryboy disease has got long arms, and has finally spread to the A2 community :(

I Like the enhanced grille at the front with the chrome slats. Lots of A2's have it but i still haven't found a subtle/suitable product for it yet, any ideas?

I don't know I have been looking for them too, I have seen the cheaper option the stick on, but not sure about them. Do you know if that part of the grill comes away from the bumper?

This is the idea of this thread so we can pool all 'pimping' (or should I say careful/tasteful modding, otherwise I might get linched here ...LOL :D ) knowledge including sourcing parts info.

Haha

I'm in the minority when it comes to these forums on most topics TBH anyway lol, so visual mods are probably liked by most. The chrome strip is the only thing i ever really thought about, but as the lower grille is curved you would be hard pushed to find something suitable that is rigid I would have thought. But most flexible moulding are only ok from a distance.

<sigh>

it's been done. Use the lower grill from an A4 cabrio, 8h0...... and then get to work :)
How to do it (in German, sorry): http://www.a2-freun.de/forum/showthread.php?t=19885

Mine's already off again, polished wheels are enough BLING for the moment....

yes, it does come out, but it's difficult. I need to fill mine in for next winter, but I have other problems - it won't start again and now I really have to replace the fuel pump relay contacts.

Grrrrr.

Does anyone know where I can get an bonnet bra like the one in the first picture???

Would really like one!

Honestly mate don't get a bra. I had one on one of my new Beetles and they damage the car. If it doesn't rain the dust gets under the edges and lightly sets about scratching the paint. If it rains it washes crap under the rubber. either way i would avoid.

You can get 3M film that is clear, extremely thin and can take virtually any impact. You can't apply it yourself only specialist outlets fit it. I had it on my second Beetle after the Bra incident, and you can hardly see it. Lots of top spec cars have it done. I saw a M3 CSL having it done while mine was being fitted. The guy wanted the complete front done as BMW used less layers of paint on the M3 CSL to save weight and it chips like anything.

THe A4 Cabrio mod is far more than required IMO, can't you simply cover the 3 horizontal central slates with something chrome?

Or this

Not Pimped but Crimped rides

I found some pics of damaged A2's thought you might want to see them :)

Toora T970. Unfortunately, in the mean time, two are no longer round, so I'm probably scrapping them next summer and going to 15s or 16s, as light as I can find for small money, with Bilstein B6s.

Errrr ...BUMP ... LOL :D

Well anyone done anything since Nov last year then?

I've been too lazy :p

Cheers

short version: no :)

Glovebox is in pieces, pin broke. Birch to fill in the groove on the front is cut and oiled, needs gluing and then the rest leathering (when I've worked out how to light the catch).
15" TDs will soon be replaced, they don't take well to gravel so have massive chips out of the powdercoat on about half the spokes of the rear wheels. Rial Milano winter wheels are OK but two now have kerb rash or gravel rash (and I've no idea how the gravel happened...) so they need replacing at some point. Car is now purely second car, for airport and big trips, so it's not massively urgent.
Currently original instrument cowl has a piece of birch veneer on it, which won't stay on as it won't bend the way I need. So it will be leathered again (third time, I think; last one was pale grey and worked well).
Amps are on a board for the boot. Even have power cables.
Speaker cables are laid through to the dash and doors.
LEDs are currently in the doors, ambient has been there since forever and ambient on the door handles is also working on two doors. Wiring is in for the LEDs in the mirrors but not hooked up. Had some issues with the door loom on both doors, so the LEDs were out of business for some time. three out of four vents light nicely, the fourth has a single borked cable.
Boot lid has two crees in it, they light things up beautifully.
What else? The Comet Xenon 200s are now mounted with the stainless braces through to M4 hurricane nuts in the bumper itself. That's really nice and stable; they're also really nicely aimed. I've spent too much time over teh last couple of years trekking up to Oulu and back in the dark to have badly-aimed main beams, especially when the last hour of the trip they're dipped maybe... twice?
The LED Logo has LEDs around but no logo itself, I've been trying to find a way to make it work for a very long time now and haven't succeeded yet.
The car PC is again (now in third iteration) running and has a decent soundcard. All the software is / was installed, but I'm really tempted now to just use a MiniDSP, as things have moved on so fast again. A decent resolution 10" monitor for the center console has been sourced, but it's bigger than the hole, so I may yet replace with a 7". Let's see.
The car did have some speakers in for a while summer before last, but the fixings were carp so I've taken that back out. That's also now causing my current issue; the skin on the passenger side is open so there's nothing stopping the massive amounts of rain we had recently from dribbling on to the carpet. Damp A2 is the result, and it's currently sitting on the road, at an angle, which is bad. So the garage needs to be re-cleared, but before that can really happen I need to finish off the renovation here up in the flat.
I know at least what speakers I think I'm going to be using - 2.5" midranges, 27TFFN for tweets, and ER18RNX for midbass, with the SDX10 currently intended to go into the passenger footwell. That's all been dampened and sealed a while back. The baffle is also "done" and needs to be put in.
Reindeer open-sky insulation will return as soon as the car's in the garage. Need to silicon the rubber seals and then put that in along with the closed cell foam for insulation. It's now 10mm PU foam with a thin layer of fiberglass on both sides and the reindeer stuck to the inside. Keeps the car warm in winter.
The wood gearknob is aging nicely, as is the wooden grab handle. The trims for the doors are still in storage and need to be applied, but that will only be done when I've worked out what's going on the doors, which needs the doorbuilds to be complete...

The car now sits on B8s with Eibach springs and it's awesome. I would list all the things I want to do but work is sending me around the globe on a regular basis so I'm simply trying to keep up with the renovation rather than adding additional pressure that the car - which isn't really needed - isn't complete.

Big things that must be sorted:
- Front ARB and wishbone rear bushes
- Oilchange and breather check, AGR clean and check, because I'm leaking a minor amount of oil through the seperator and I'm 90% sure it's because there's some crankcase pressure issue
- gearbox whine has essentially stopped, so I figure it was the tyres (!!)
- rear brakes were binding so new shoes need to be ordered and fitted. Happy to do it, would be nice if it was above zero and not raining, though, and I'm not paying €35 / hour for the privilege of working in the warm and dry but filthy local "DIY hall". I might as well get it done professionally for that price.
- rear B8 is rubbing on the plastic protector. Have the new bumpstops, will need to get them fitted ASAP and re-check the RARB at the same time. Also need to replace the bottom bolts with A2 stainless, along with the clamps for the ARB.
- I replaced the V70 earlier this year and it's not quite right. Need to get my car yoga lesson in and do it. Pain, that one is... at least I have the 10mm "hat" spanner with a swivel on it now, which I didn't have last time.
I have the new poly bushes for the dogbone and rear axle, but they can wait at least a little while.
The FSDs also still need to be sent to Koni for replacement, I need to find all the paperwork for that - but it's in the garage and that still has stuff in from the renovation. Our renovation was new floors and redecorating two rooms, which means everything has to move - and then after vacation I've been away again. I think I've been - for work - to the UK six times this year so far, Malaysia, Sweden twice, Budapest twice - once with the Transit - and Munich twice... which is why the car ends up on the back burner.

so, complete? no. Getting there? a little closer. I've realised, though, that if I don't get a move on with some things, they won't be done before it dies....
