Audi A2 concert stereo - not recognised by stereo in CD mode

Hi I just added a bluetooth adapter to the rear of my concert A2 stereo. I attached the black wire also to the stereo and confirmed its earthed. The bluetooth is recognised by my phone and music is playing on the phone (to the buetooth) but when you press the CD button on the stereo it just says 'NO CD' instead of recognising the adapter as a cd changer. Anyone else had this issue before I send it back ?. Pic attached for reference

The car needs to be coded for a CD changer with VCDS if it didn’t come with a changer from factory.
That being said lots of the Bluetooth adapters in the sub £20 price range are basically scams, you can check by looking at the pins the wires going into the stereo plug into.
If it just has the left and right audio channels then this is the case. The system works by impersonating the CD changer so to do this it needs to connect to the data pins as well as the audio signal wires.

Does it really need coding with VCDS ? I just thought it emulates the CD changer, the wires replace where the CD changer would plug in ? My car did not come with a CD changer.

Oh nice,
I didn’t think you could do coding or adaptions with the lite version
As long as you have paid $99, there's little difference between Lite and full, unless your car is post 2005/06. Lite is only for the oldies, (but goodies).

I've managed to get VCDS Lite working and the coding for the stereo (Concert 2) currently says 00001. Any idea what it needs changing to for adding CD changer (which the bluetooth adapter uses to mimic) ?

I can’t remember off the top of my head but it should pop up a dialogue box with all the different options so you can add up the appropriate spec for your car

Afternoon,

Although I spend quite a bit of my free time on these pages, it really does help if you peruse the Ross-Tech pages as that’s where all the answers are for these type of question.

If I’m ever needing to recall what possible coding options might be for a module then I always refer to their forum.

Have a look at this link for Gen 2 head units:

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Tom

00003.
Diversity = 00001
CD = 00002
00001+ 00002 = 00003.

The radio dialogue box on Lite does not include the Installation Options II, or at least, my copy doesn't.
