So has anyone bought a new windscreen recently ,got a price for a new one today for £185 which I thought was a bit steep

That's normal I got quoted 160 normal price fitted about 6 years ago. 20 quid increase in 6 years is normal

I bought one of the last genuine Audi A2 windscreens a couple of years ago for around £400 so its a good price providing its of decent quality.

I recently bought windscreen for my 80 cabrio from audi tradition for 400€ so £185 for A2 doesn't seem that bad

I paid a bit more than that to have my A2 screen removed, and refitted. It was leaking badly, but insurance wouldn't cover it. So, a very good price.
