1.4 BBY: random stall and buzzing noise

Maybe but this isn’t the function of the g250 as that only measured the position of a shaft going into the steering column.

I agree. My mistake, I thought that the original G250 was part of the rack, and had a hydraulic connection, now I realise that it simply bolts onto the column. Apologies all round.
I'll have to assume that there is a sensor which is part of the J500 controller, and always has been. Keeps me happy!

I do think the noise is the PS Pump Motor trying to start, but not quite managing it, while drawing lots of power, hence the slow cranking.
Ignition off and on again, and all's well could be that the second start resets the pump controller, and all's well ... perhaps.
Mac.

I don’t have slow cranking, it cranks at normal speed. It’s because the ecu isn’t fully coming online I believe, the power steering could be the cause or a symptom.

The reason the power steering maybe doing this is it’s in a fallback mode as it’s not receiving anything from g85 or the ecu possibly.

Steve that is a really useful addition thank you. These are all things I can try as I have spares.
I think it was someone on A2OC who suggested that was the cause of Random Cutting Out. Audi Independent Specialist had been unable to Diagnose as No Fault Codes came up even when they left it running in their workshop.

Seems unlikely in this case as the ecu crashes before the car starts and it has never cut out.

If you logged a couple of ECU Groups, could you be able to confirm that the ECU does crash? Maybe Readiness?
Just a thought. Maybe better than some I've had recently ... (Maybe not) .
Mac.
