@Ryan - enjoy the safari, but do yourself a favour and take a decent camera along, you'll kick yourself if all your pictures of the lions and elephants come back blurry :)

Take some spare (charged) batteries and memory cards too, the worst thing would be to run out of juice or space and not be able to take any more pictures. When I went to Kenya a few years ago I actually took a film camera (as we were camping, so no electricity at all) and shot through 12 rolls of 36 exposure film. You'll love it!

Just to echo the comments above on the work though, very impressive stuff, and great to have shared the progress with the forum, it's been very interesting.

i just spent a fair whack on a new camera yesterday actully, its 10mp with 12x optical zoom which is quite amazing as it still keeps the quality and it has 5.7digital zoom aswel which reduces the quality a bit, and loads of amazing features on it, and its great at close up shots aswel, allthough i wont be going too close to any lions or hippo's

oh yeah the cost of the work on the car was a few hundred shy of 4k!!!!

Ryan, enjoy your well earned break. As the Technical Director, your posts and photos have been a really interesting source of info for me, and I appreciate the time you've taken to keep us up to speed each day.

This thread is going to be stickied, as it's really educational as to the way A2s were built in the first place and the way they;re repaired now.

Thanks for what you've done for Glen and thanks for sharing the procedure with us all.

Cheers,

Mike

PS Is your new camera a Panasonic Lumix by any chance? If so, you'll get some amazing shots with it - they're fantastic cameras.

no problemo

its not the Panasonic Lumix but its the fujifilm s1500 one, exactly the same spec i think, very good value for the quality of the camera, and good for a novice, i very nearly bought a cannon one with the same spec but i was 50quid dearer, so i made the obvious choice

im literally in the airport about to board the plane, hope your happy with your car and il look forward to hearing your thoughts on it in 2 weeks :D

is that a guess or do you have insider knowledge?
I have not had the car back yet!
not sure what hold up is, will let you have pics and update when i finally get it

Got it back!

Folks, have had the car back over a week, and have been checking it out before I post.
Have to say the paint is not easy to blend but the job Swansway have done is excellent! I really cannot tell the difference, and I am picky!

The rear offside wheel has been repainted, it did not need repainting as the very very slight mark was made by my clumsiness, and as the wheels were recently completely reurbished, the back wheel is now a slightly brighter silver, but its marginal.

The trim has gone back in with no damage!

Overall Swansway have done an excellent first class job.

I do have one complaint!
The rear offside passenger interior grab handle has been put back on upside down ha! Only found out as this is what i hook my jacket on!
Thanks again to Ryan and Swansway.
Cheers
Glen

An overall utter success story then Glen - pleased all is well and that you are now reunited with your pristine A2 once more.

Cheers,

Darren

Nice work!

Glad to see the car made it out on the road again. I was waiting to see if you wanted to part with those wonderful seats in the car. :) Glad to see that the car is in such great shape again, with such low milage I would really hesitate to sell it ever! GREAT WORK!!

I forgot about this thread. It was great to go back and read how a mint a2 got back to mint condition.

It's nice to know it can be done.

I have used Swansway in the past and Ryan is excellent as are Crewe Audi. I have just bought our A2 from them and i would never go anywhere else even though there are two other Audi dealers closer to where we live. They are not just a dealership and a bodyshop to us they are more like family. :)

Nightmare, I feel your pain.
I wonder how the police do not physically remove some of the elderly drivers; you know the type, red-lining the balls out of their cars whilst reversing in Sainsbury's car park. God only knows why more accidents don't occur, scary!

I've not read the thread but I assume you are OK?
