Plug and play chipped ECU swap?

Hey Guys from the A2oc,

I know a guy who chipped a lot of Audi a2 and i can get a real good deal for a 100euro's.
For the 100 euro's i get a ECU chipped and the EGR disabled, he says just swap it and drive its that simple.(is it?!)
My question is does this really work this way get the old one out and replace it with the new one?
I have an AMF engine 1.4 TDI this ECU will get it up to 110 HP wich is not bad at all considering the amount of money.
Little help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

I presume the replacement engine ECU has had the immobiliser circuit bypassed too then, as otherwise you couldn't just swap out and drive.

Your call, but personally, I'd not want to take the risk of having little to no security.

Hi Nick,

As mentioned, this will only work if the ECU has its immobiliser disabled. In principle, I could remap (chip) an ECU, disable the immobiliser and sent it to NL. You could then plug it into your car and happily drive around. However, this will make your car much easier to steal and will also create an irritation...
Given that you have a 2002 A2, the immobiliser light in the instrument cluster will constantly flash at you wherever you go, all the time. The instrument cluster software was revised on later A2s to stop this from happening if the cluster can see that the ECU immobiliser is switched off. Unfortunately, given the age of your A2, the cluster will see that the ECU immobiliser is switched off and you'll have to live with a flashing warning symbol. This would drive me mad.

I will possibly be in Den Haag in late December / early January. If you like, I can either remap your existing ECU or I can sort out any immobiliser problems that arise from fitting a second ECU.

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks for the answer but that whas not my question :)

Oops, I've been married for 45 years so automatically answer the question you really meant to ask but didn't

All's well that ends well though, as you've ended up with the answer you really wanted......... a cost effective way of getting a remap without disabling the immobiliser and risking the wrath of the Insurance company if your A2 ever got stolen

Cheers Spike

Surely the only answer is ‘yes dear’?
