How to tow

Hi I’m on my way to pick up a car. It needs towing but just realised I don’t know where to place the tow rope. Any ideas.

If you are towing. There is a pop out cosmetic cover to the towing point on the right side of the rear bumper. Pops out by pushing it at the bottom apparently, like the jacking points, but never used it myself.

Is there possibly any pictures on how to get the towing tool attached to the front of the car?
Rather urgent need, but would hate to destroy any plastics in the cold.
Car not with me right now but on my way to it.

Sorry I don't have a picture, but the towing eye is behind the driver's side foglight cover or blanking plate on UK RHD cars. I don't know if it's the same or opposite side for LHD. But in either case insert a flat blade screwdriver between the straight end of the cover/blank and the lower grille, at about the 1/4 and 3/4 points, there are two clips to lever gently to release it and pull that end out. Then the two locating lugs should just come out of their holes in the round end next to the bumper and it'll come free.

Half way through replying when Ian posted his excellent reply. From memory a slight correction, the towing eye is not behind the trim panel, rather where you screw in the towing eye that should be part of the boot toolkit.

The description by @Proghound was spot on, many thanks.
I took some pictures, as (dirty) illustrations:
