Today I.....

Today I ... experienced a working Webasto in my A2 for the first time. I have a new friend! :)

When I got back from my test run, I was initially wondering why it was still going when the engine had been at 90° on the dash for at least 5 miles (and had got there within 3 or 4 miles, the first time it's been that quick to warm up since the summer, if even then). But then I found this post by @timmus so now I know it's doing exactly what it should be, given that I had the climate on 23°. I keep finding so much useful Tom output in the history on here.

I love my Webestie! (Pun not typo)

I planned to use a spare one as a hot tub heater but grudge the £140 for a new control board and am determined To get it working one day!

Ps. Jet engine noise and clouds of smoke from the wheel arch made me take my new A2 to two garages until I joined this site and Mr Broons sorted me out in about 3minutes.

Today I changed the plugs in the FSI from NGK to Bosch, and they are longer as others have said, awaiting test drive! Also found a blocked low pressure fuel feed, so that can't have helped running.

Continued Project Resurgam and reassembled the rear suspension, it's raining and blowing a gale outside, perfect excuse to avoid Christmas shopping. All the parts have been cleaned, painted or renewed and queued up ready for installation.

1. Rear axle had a bit of surface rust and was already cleaned down with a wire brush, tricky working on your back to do the inner side and ended up with a face full of rust dust. The whole surface and brake pipes were pre-treated with Kurust.

2. Rear drums were removed and inspected, shoes and springs given a general clean with brake cleaner, drums will be replaced early next year along with the front disks and pads.

3. Top spring seats renewed with Meyle part number 100 512 0028 ... looking at this picture I think the end of the spring should be spun 180° to face inboard.

4. Bottom seats replace with Audi part number 8Z0 511149A

5. My own modification ... a length of mountain bike inner tube stretched over the bump stops, glued and secured to the plastic tube. Hopefully it will protect and prolong the life of the bump stop ... don't know if this will be successful but it might stop it rattling when the end eventually breaks off..

6. Same as the other side.

7. Spring rotated to correct position, it seems to sit better ... old drums painted for now and the Monroe Reflex struts cleaned down.

8. All done and time to step back and admire the work.

Thanks for looking ...
Next job will be getting some 'O' rings and gaskets to try and fix the coolant leak and maybe seeking some advice from fellow owners on purchasing VCDS :D:D:D

Today I stripped down , cleaned and re-greased the windscreen wiper linkages , along with the spindles .

Brought as spare unit for Basil , his wiper is just about ready to pack up , and making some rather unpleasant noises .... so next dry and warmer day , the rebuilt unit will get fitted to Basil .

As is always the case , I was amazed at the over engineering which Audi put into the car , bronze bearings x4 little rubber seal x1 , 2 tensor washers , over sized linkage ball joints 3 fixing on the body to the motor frame , 4 fixing to the car , there must be nearly a 100 components !

This was a easy job and hopefully rewarding

...replaced this little fella in the back door today and now I have a radio that can receive more than just interference !

I'd really like a through-the-glass roof fm 'bee spring' aerial though...
