After cleaning the gunk out the fuel filter housing I just thought it would be wise to clean the fuel system, although I’m never quite sure if it is a good idea to “clean” the fuel or turbo as I guess the loosened gunk just gets released into the cylinder, who knows? Either way my Seat with the 1.9 tdi vv always runs better after a tank of premium stuff and a good 3rd gear thrash. Will be interesting as I have never found any appreciable difference but I only ever use Tesco std diesel or shell std diesel
not really worth the effort, I hope you didn't have to take it far !!!Today I weighed in 31kilos of the A2 shell I'm cutting up. Must be love for 30p/kg....
So I'm 1500 miles into a holiday to italy in the a2 and whilst in florence I've managed to go over my ankle badly due to a slip on a wet pavement.
My wife is not happy but I cant use my left foot on the clutch so she may need to drive on the next stint to meta near sorrento...joy!!
Oh my god long way from home as well mine is going to be at least a couple of months ..blooming painful..and frustrating ? I feel for you .So I'm 1500 miles into a holiday to italy in the a2 and whilst in florence I've managed to go over my ankle badly due to a slip on a wet pavement.

Not so sad, insurance write off . Hopefully lots of parts to keep our cars on the road.Still a way to go.
Tesco bought ESSO some year ago so I think its the best of the super market fuels. Shell Std diesel gets be at least an extra 20 miles per tank
What about Super market fuel plus some brand of additive put in every few weeks, I use diesel redex every so often myself? The blend of fuel (base stock + additives) that super markets sell, is very different to the blend sold under the oil cos own name. Super market fuel is cheaper for a reason, it's not got the wizzy (and expensive) additives. I'd rather pay 10p extra per litre at the pump, than many hundreds of pounds for repairs (to my 1.6 FSI). But, that's just me. Mac
I get what you are saying, but I regularly see the tanker that goes to Tesco's also drooping off fuel from the same tanker to the local ESSO station about 1/2 mile away - hence I'm sure it is the same fuel from both stationsThe blend of fuel (base stock + additives) that super markets sell, is very different to the blend sold under the oil cos own name.
