The Definitive Alloy Wheel Picture thread (Alloys)

Why? What's wrong with pepperpots?

I adore my pepperpots, they are a noble and under-rated rim, and look great (I am blacking-out the center caps as we speak) but as they are for my winter snow tires, there are occasions where I would like to be able to use chains with a clear conscience, and they are too nice/special to be subject to the potential scratching from the chains (it is almost impossible to get the chains to only touch the rubber tire).
So I am casually looking for a "beater" set of rims that still look good enough so I don't feel the need to change them back to the pepperpots immediately after a trip to the mountains for the weekend.

I think he's using the PPs are Summer wheels ?

A1 10 spokes for summer.

Exceptional service from Menno, i like these wheels , are they not available 5 x 100? Fitting them as is or refurb?

Dear A2OC members,

Since I joined this forum, I felt a warm welcome (the Dutch A2 club is oke too, but....erm.....let's say different).
When I required some parts, the marketplace here on A2oc and, ofcourse, the members helped me and kept me on the road with my A2.
Also, I got to get aquinted with Timmus/Tom, who did some nice and lovely jobs on my A2, which I could not do on my own (more of a hardware instead of a sofware guy....).

So the bottom line is that this forum/club has a great bunch of ladies and gents.
When Greywolfhound asked me if I could keep an eye open for some A8 D2 rims, I didnt hesitate, so I could give something back to this wonderfull community!
There will be a time that there will be little A2's left, but for now; let's enjoy the little b****rs!

Thanx and Cheers,

Menno.

Ah, I need to refurb my centercaps too! Was it difficult to remove the chrome parts, or perhaps easy to just mask before painting?

I made a wooden jig that I held in a vise to support the front of the centercap while I individually pushed the 4 small retaining pins from the back of the "rings" with the flat nose of some pliers. It took some effort, but they popped out. They popped back in after painting without any issues. I will add a picture of the jig later tonight.
I was unable to remove the chrome ring due to fear of breaking the cap, (other forum members have managed) so I just masked them carefully.
I used a hammer-finish gloss black paint that was handy, if my wheels were highly polished and immaculate, I would have considered a smooth-finish gloss black (Google - Hammerite 5084781 Metal Paint: Hammered Black 400ml (Aerosol).

I carefully used a vice to separate the components (outer ring, centre logo) I cut some small wooden blocks to act as spacers and then with steadily increasing pressure from the jaws of the vice, the parts smoothly parted. No need to use a hammer/punch!
