I have no specific knowledge of that unit though I'd suggest it depends on how soon you want to repeat the job. The FSI isn't kind to plastic coolant fittings.
I have just bought a full black leather seat set in mint condition to put away for my future silver a2 with oss yes still looking for one a well known member had one I was interested in but it has grey interior I’m looking for black ..so 2002 onwards I have since been told by Steve..View attachment 59654.my question is how do I open the rear seats as they are folded up and locked I saw a picture of them in situ so I know they are perfect ..but I want to polish up before storing ..
I want to polish up before storing ..?
I have some special leather cleaner I’ve used in the Porsche over the years it only lightly cleans surface does not leave them shiny ..Be very wary of polishing leather seats. Leather polish, often described as nourishing and conditioning the leather, tends to soften and weaken the leather so that it stretches or worse. The correct way to clean leather seats is with a good quality general purpose cleaner such as Meguiars All-Purpose Cleaner:
All Purpose Cleaner 3.78Ltrs

You have to convince the seat that it’s in the car. You move the locking pins to where the wouldsit when the base is in position. Don’t forget to move them back before trying to refit.

Put the seats flat on their carpeted backs. Push down on the locking rings around the two silver studs - you can use a big enough socket to do this. Don't allow the seats to open further than they would in the car or you will strain and possibly damage the internal mechanism. Pulling the handle up will release the locking rings again, the same way it would in the car. When folding the seats, it always helps to ensure the seat belt holder lies flat so as to avoid stretching the leather while in storage - insert a piece of cardboard or similar between the holder and the edge of the seat back. You have to convince the seat that it’s in the car. It should be really easy. It can sometimes help to put a knee in the middle of the seat between the two studs though.Great I can follow that will try tonight ... many thanks ..?
Probably won't need VCDS or Tippex for this one then!
....was able to fully check over my recent purchase from sciroccorrado in the daylight and without getting rained on.
I’m quite pleased with it on the whole, it’s in reasonable nick and a long drive home from Leicester to Portsmouth certainly did it some good after a period of standing idle.
There are a number of things to attend to, nothing too drastic but the list is beginning to grow the more I look at it.
So, it needs....
A service (waiting for a favourable weather window)
Tracking and wheel balancing (horrendous wobble at motorway speeds)
Replace interior lights (who in their right mind fits blue LEDs?)
Swap the worn climate control unit for the unworn one (thanks Jeremy)
Investigate ‘clunk’ noise from NSF strut area (likely to be top mount)
Assess clutch movement (is there any adjustment possible, does anyone know?)
Replace NSF door check strap (Depronman, are you still supplying?)
Replace iffy tyres
Attend to sagging roof lining (may have to wait until the OSS is repaired)
Repair windscreen wiper mechanism (I haven’t dared to look under the gaffer tape which is seemingly covering up a problem)
Investigate lumpy idle (I might be imagining this but it doesn’t seem as smooth as the 195,000 Silverpig)
Decide on the fate of the aforementioned Silverpig (old, tired and slightly scarred but still running happily, and I’m very attached to it!)
Oh, and fit my recently purchased sports seats which were an £18 Ebay bargain (anyone interested in a soon to be surplus set of clean Soul seats?)
Think that’s it for the time being, I’m sure there’s a few more little surprises awaiting!
That would be a fantastic present, do you have someone in the DVLA whom can create a 'Z' suffix registration?I wish.....next year birthday present!
Happy birthday indeed fellow a2 owner ...mine is in less than 2 weeks ..another Capricorn ?Today I am one year older and wiser. Day started with an amazing present from wife, a rare A2 large-ish scale model (God knows where she found it!) and a hand gilded gold-leaf birthday card, followed by a glorious trip to Cliveden House enjoying the low winter sun, OSS open and heated seats on 4 ☺
