Hi there hope someone can help have had a flat battery and can’t get into car with key it turns in the lock 90 degrees each way but nothing I have managed to get power to the battery via the starter motor but key fob not responding. Totally locked out can anyone advise.

Not what you want to hear though as the car is deadlocked you'll have to break in if you are unable to unlock with the key. Did the key work previously as the electrical failure would not stop the key from operating the lock. Remote won't work following a flat battery, the only option is the drivers door.
In case you are unaware, don't break a quarterlight window, they're all bonded. Keep us posted, happy to help if we can.

When you say key turns though 'nothing', you may be unlocking drivers door only with no central locking noise.

Hello, and welcome to A2OC.

Where in the North West are you?

Turn the key in the driver's door lock. If the battery is totally flat, none of the other locks will respond and so you'll hear nothing, but the driver's door should have been unlocked mechanically.

Do not break any windows until all other options have been exhausted.
If you have to break a window, break one of the door windows, not one of the small ones in the corners.

Cheers,

Tom

I have got the battery voltage up through starter motor. Tried door handle after turning key both ways and no joy, having never needed to use the key manually I have no idea if it worked manually before, my mrs said she spotted somewhere on a forum that you could energise the power windows from somewhere under the car and then wire through door shut to press window button (I managed to get a loop round the internal handle but even pulling inner handle to full extent the door stayed locked) nightmare!

The Key in the Drivers door needs to be turned 90 degrees clockwise to unlock, as I know well. Never had a totally flat battery when I have had to do that though.
You mention operating the internal door lever (but no joy). Do you realise the internal lever needs to be operated twice to open the door from the locked state? Have you tried that?

Yes about 4 or 5 what appear to be full travel. Could it be deadlocked stopping the internal handle from working?

Seems strange as my Blue A2 has no battery fitted. I lock and unlock via key in the drivers door handle.

Yep the key turns both ways in the lock but doesn’t physically unlock the door obviously I’ve turned it in the lock 100 times today in the vein hope it would work just once ?

In another forum there was a post about waking the electric windows up and then rodding through the door shut to the window switch but no detail was given about how to actually wake the windows up

The paddle on the back of the lock barrel must not he turning the lock, ideally if you could remove the lock barrel to insert a screwdriver to activate the lock would need something like an angle grinder or drill the barrel out, maybe you tube can help see if this is possible

Years ago i heard sending power down the reverse light switch multiplug which turned on the dash, you could ask a local breakdown guy for their thoughts

If the boot had a emergency release, and is located behind the number plate, maybe a discreet drilling would enable activation of the emergency release???

Does the passenger side latch assy have a slot for where a lock barrel would go? (General question for bods in the know)
If so this blank would be a awful lot easier to drill in order to insert a screwdriver ???

The boot does have a mechanical release, it's at the bottom of the rear window o/s in the trim, it runs to the latch so "in theory" you could make a hole to the o/s behind the number plate and activate it
