Today I.....

Finished off fitting the JOM coilover kit. Needed to fit longer bolts in the rear spring adjusters and fit the shorter "bmw" front drop links.
I've left it on minimum on the rear and about 10mm clear thread on the front until the springs settle and then I will check it over. Over christmas I decided to leave my current position and its 400 mile a week commute, so the mileage will drop massively.
The ride is a little firmer than the ones that were removed but not uncomfortably so, the ride is better than I had expected considering the full kit was under £170! The kit looks like its made in Germany and isnt really cheap looking, Took me about 5 hours for the whole job. The worst part was the rear arch liners caked in mud from the lane where the workshop is. Rear lower spring rubbers were shot but no longer required.View attachment 60177
Mega!
So is the car lower than stock now?
I had to fit slightly higher tyres so our stock car could cope with those pesky speed bumps!

It's probably lower than I want tbh. I am running 205/45 17's as well. Once the springs have settled I will stick the car on my corner weight scales and check it over and adjust as necessary. Think it's lacking in rake in the picture, a little too low at the back.

Edited to add :

I have attached a picture from a few months ago to show the difference in height from before. Im not entirely sure the height was correct for a sport anyway.

Today I took the A2 for a nice 50 mile drive..... found myself smiling at how nice the car felt it's a bit noisy at 70 @ 3500 revs approx. I'm missing the cruise control I had on my Merc and a few other toys, but nether the less there's a lot of character. What I didn't miss from the Merc was only £43 to fill the A2 with Shell V Power as opposed to £80 for bog standard Diesel.

Today I clipped back in the trim around the quarter light window. It had been annoying me as there was a 3-4mm gap. Pushed it back in place with a satisfying clip noise so a no cost fix ?

Additionally A2Steve (many thanks) supplied me with a ‘dot’ for between the 1 & 6 on the bootlid which arrived today.

This ‘dot’ is the most insignificant thing in the world but surprisingly has frustrated me the most with it being missing. Now I have one I’m really happy............little things, literally!

Well today my passenger side suspension failed leaving the wheel towards the rear of the arch. Fortunately I had just washed the car and was simply drying the brakes after giving them a particular clean.

I presume that this means the wishbone has failed?

My god that was lucky ...do the lottery tomorrow ?. Yes it sounds like the hollow style wishbone rusted through ..must admit I’ve heard of this several times now my mechanic warned me a few years ago about the same issue ..I have 2 with solid one with hollow I guess solid is the way to go ..

Today I swapped the white mirror shells for some black ones, had to paint um myself using plasti kote gloss black, they look quite good

Original white ones are safely wrapped up and stored away

Today I purchased this from Halfords.
My TDi90 has been standing most of the holiday period and the battery was almost drained. Enough power to keep the central locking alive but barely half a turn of the engine.
The booster took a while to charge (more than the claimed 2 hrs) but got the car started almost instantly.
I'm normally skeptical about things like this, but in this case I'm VERY impressed.

That’s joeys car I was an early bidder ..I’m pleased it broke the 3k mark he put an awful lot into it wheels you could get £600 on their own with new tires and a top line Billstein suspension that was probably £500 second hand was..£1200 + new .. votex £600 s/h new Gearbox sorted so I think whoever bought it got a good deal really .lots-of goodies .sad for Joey

Today i observed this little beauty, i think the price achieved for a car @ 190k was a good result........Yes / No???

Audi A2 1.4 TDI SE heated leather BOSE DIS Cruise Opensky
It’s a members car and the work that has gone into it makes it a special car. Good sign, I reckon as those that know these cars and what has been sorted on this is impressive. When you consider what people would buy some of the special elements for (votex, cup holder, wheels) it’s a good thing it all stayed together.

Knew it's a members car, it was on the Scottish trip, remember seeing it in one of the M6 motorway stops. I think the price achieved is good given the mileage, but not surprised it reached this kind of money given all the nice optics. ?

Today I have decided to put my 12k petrol a2 up for sale in spring never thought I would as I have owned for less than a year ..never driven once collected ...sat in dehumidified garage ..but I have just bought a 13k oss petrol one as many of you know I have been looking for a long time for this model ..years infact ...I take delivery on the 14th of this month ...it leaves me with lack of dry storage ..for these museum pieces ...and as sally rightly says 3 a2s are plenty 4 is obscene ?..along with 3 other vehicles..

Brilliant how small these things have become, you can also get a power bank with an attachment with jump leads which also doubles as a torch, usb phone charger etc. They featured as a top 10 motoring Christmas gift.
