Lowering springs

Looking at getting some lowering springs as I commute on country lanes and the lean when going around bends can get slightly annoying. Will Skoda fabia h&r springs fit the a2?

Yes they will, but you’d be far better off buying a set of Jom blueline coilovers instead. At less than £200 delivered they are far smoother than springs on the A2 and the handling is superb. Unless your current shocks are in superb condition and designed for lowering springs then they will need replacing too and the coilovers will work out cheaper overall.

A little lean is part of the a2 make up if your travelling mainly on country roads be careful you don’t make it so stiff you could end up with a bone jarring ride ..

Yup its all about what you want. I had pro sport coilovers on my car for around 2 years and eventually got tired of the jarring ride quality. The handling though was really good - so i had to decide to compromise on handling for ride quality. Eventually went for Monroe sports dampers and weitec 30mm drop springs.

Another thing that improved the handling was replacing the dog bone mount after 15 years of wear and tear. That made as much difference to comfort than the replacement of the coilovers as it was completely shot.

Is it possible to fit lowering cups, which I believe, are OEM fit to be Sport, to drop the car a bit, whilst retaining a similar ride? This may be complete b0ll0cks if course! I'm sure someone will quickly put me right ...
Mac.

Edit: It's a deeper top mount incorporating a cup, I think.
Mac.

Thanks, replaced dog bone mount about 6 months ago so that’s checked off the list with all of the track rod ends, wishbones, droplinks, etc

Steve,
I’m looking to replace my shocks this sounds tempting.
What about the top strut bearing on the front will standard ones be ok

Factory springs and shocks in excellent condition will be more comfortable than the Jom blue lines by a long shot, but if your suspension is showing over 100k then the Jom coilovers will be an improvement.

The only thing that doesn’t come with the kit is the top mounts for the front struts. Worth replacing while the factory stuff is off because they are less than £30 a pair and would require a complete strip down again if yours wear.

Bare in mind though that the minimum amount the coilovers lower the car is 30mm

there is a lot of talk about this on the german forums - the consensus was eibach fabia springs, and bilstien shocks - ive got for this setup with the b4 shocks - and new topmounts and rubbers at the rear - you need the sport topmounts for the front to keep it level though (i didnt know this at the time and front is slightly higher then the back.

Much better then the coilover setup i had

Sorry to post on an old thread.

I am very close to pressing the buy button on my fabia springs and B4 shocks for my FSI.

My question is about what mounts I should be purchasing to maintain an even sitting on the car. Front and back.

I am aware the sports version uses shorted lower bump stops and shorter upper seats.

As far as I know the rear springs are longer, so I was going to buy sport stops and bumps for the back only. Reading the post above it is in fact the other way around?

Can anyone confirm what I should be doing here, and if it includes both the stop and the seat?

As always, thanks for any feedback here.

The upper mounts at the same across all models. The lower rear bushes/mounts on your car will be pretty much non existent by now, so just get whichever ones you can, it will be an improvement. Pretty sure febi bilstein only do one size anyway.

As for the front top mounts, use polo 9n ones.

Yeah I am leaving nothing, going over pumps is like metal on metal even with none dead shocks.

Could you give me just a little more info regarding these polo 9n ones?

That already does help a bunch though!
