Today I.....

Today, I butchered a perfectly good hard touch headlight switch using a hole saw, in order to complete a new mod. I'm happy with the outcome.

@Kleynie the auto light switch looks so much better with its larger fascia and the chrome ring fitted just finishes it off perfectly. You could have cut up a really tatty one instead, didn't even have to be the dual fogs version.;)

I was eager to get it done to be honest, otherwise I would've done it on a worse switch. Oh well, it's done now. Credit to @Birchall as well, for popping round to help me with ideal settings.

... need some advice. Should I:
  1. Fix it
  2. Buy new
  3. Buy used
I got a used bumper from opisto.fr and was very impressed. It cost 120€, which included the spotlights, plus 20€ delivery and it arrived within 24hours of ordering. From that experience I would highly recommend them, at least for anyone living in France. Fitted it, bleed the breaks, topped up the coolant and fitted a new plug (4B0973712) for the the thermostat temperature sensor. Back on the road :)

Today my Cobalt one clicked over to 150k on the way hone from Grafham Water. And I missed it .... just like I did with 100k on my Crystal one
From noting the junction and railway bridge where the next whole mile came up after I'd looked, I managed to work out tonight roughly where it must have been ... and I woudn't have been able to take a picture anyway, it was about 2 miles down the A421 from the Black Cat roundabout on the A1. I'll just have to remember what we did on the day it happened.

Get a pressure wash on it, should blast the flys off, with having to scrub them ?
Another good trick is to use a solution of biological washing powder in warm water. Use gloves and apply liberally and it dissolves the flies and bugs.

But why does a car with such a low drag coefficient catch flies so well?

Yep that’s the gloss black
I must admit they look very classy
I sat one on my own A2 to see that it looked like (got the original wiper are to the 12 o’clock position and turned off ignition)
Then placed the gloss black one on the car in the wiper arm park position
It just looks right to my eyes

Cheers. Paul

I’d love to do it in 1 car! ?
In the last 25 years of company cars I haven’t done more than 10k in a car up until my current one due to Covid!
Glad I’ve rediscovered the A2 and am enjoying owning my own car on the side again!
