Have just fitted a connects 2 Bluetooth thing in the motorcar.
Has anyone fitted one of these before as I have no rear speakers working now..?
Any help is mucho appreciated

Evening,

I’m certainly no expert in this field but have fitted a XCarLink into 2 A2s with no problems. I guess both of our media items connect the same way, pretending to be a CD Changer so it shouldn’t leave any reason for your rear speakers to work.

It really is worth pulling your head unit out again and see if the rear speakers start to work with playing/wiggling the cables at the rear. It could just be a simple loose connection.

It’s just a guess as I’m not familiar with the Connects2 unit.

If this doesn’t indeed work I’m sure there will be someone with more experience along shortly.

Good luck.

Kind regards,

Tom

Does the Bluetooth adapter work?
The adapter plugs into the CD input on the radio, which is one section of a 3 part iso connector. One of the other sections supplies power and line out to the rear amp, so, this is probably not connected. Take a couple of pics with the radio out, but still connected. I'm sure we'll see what's going on.

If the unit requires an earth make sure it is well secured as it can fall off as you refit the head unit, also check for bent pins on the connects end of the lead.

The original top black connector I had to remove. This did make me think that this could be the wrong loom?

I have no access to wiring just now but do not think you have connected things up correctly. Refit as before check all work then start again.

When I have fitted the Xcarlink in the past and indeed into Project OEM, the small blue connect is not placed into the rear of the head unit. The connector is placed into another connector I think. Where you have Blue and Green connector in your head unit, there should also be a Red one which is the feed for the read speaker amp. I'll look in the morning but it might well be part of the black connector and need unclipping.

I know exactly what to do but don't have time to go outside and check. If no one has the answer for you by the morning I will nip out to OEM and take some shots for you, this will show you exactly what you need to do.

Kind regards,

Tom

There should be a third part to that multi-coloured connector that provides the missing Line-out wires. Guess the Connects2 might have said it was suitable for Audi Concert ... but unlike other Audis (AFAIK), the A2 uses the line-out for the rear speakers, whether via BOSE or otherwise.

Thank you all!
so if I could move the green connector over, they look like speaker cable, they would be on the line out. Thanks @damadgeruk for the diagram ??

Line out is an unamplified signal which is thin compared to speaker output cable as the rear speakers are fed from an amplifier under the drivers (on RHD) footwell. The connector is red (I believe). Probably best to take a photo of what's there if you are struggling so we can help.

The black iso connector that was plugged into where the green abs blue adapter now is

All that's missing is the power and signal out of the radio to the rear amp. That's because there's nothing plugged into the section of the ISO nearest the camera, where they come from.
I think the adapter is incorrect. The correct one goes between the radio and the ISO connector that was plugged into the radio, so everything stays as was, except the BT adapter is routed to the CD changer input. Often referred to as "half amped" meaning the front speaker are driven by the HU, and the rears from the amp. I'm guessing the one you have is not "half amped"

In future, it's worth a bit of research before buying, as some Bluetooth adapters (AnyCarLink for one) come as vehicle specific kits, including adapter, genuine plug and play.
This pic, not the same adapter as yours, may help.

Well there is definitely no red connector...
This was bought as specific kit for the A2. Have contacted the company and await their response.
Thanks for those pics

Speakers in the rear wasn’t standard equipment on a base car it only has front speakers

Just saying that their loom maybe for a base spec without rear speakers

That would be a non amped (not half amped) version. Might have hit the nail on the head there @Edwrai

@Vanders
Looking at the website, I think you need kit CTAADBT003, and may have CTAADBT004.

I had the same problem. Got another lead from the suppliers (FOC)
You have to attach it to the two plug to make up a three plug unit which then plugs into the CD controller of the HU. You do end up with an excess of leads going nowhere but it will all tuck behind the head unit

To confirm the CTAADBT003 kit does work, I remember having some hassle with rear speakers but once I ignored the instructions and worked it out in my head it was fine. Unfortunately it was a few years ago and I've forgotten exactly what I did.
