Today I.....

The bad reports about Spidan springs are mounting up and they were the "go to" fitments at one point.

Yes, well it was fun while they lasted......

Were new top mount bearings fitted at same time as those spidans?

Sir, yes Sir! Inspected and double checked and still in great/as new condition now.

Top bearings left and right
Bilstein B8
Spidan springs
Various bolts and nuts

II would more say that if that spring broke in a curve while doing 70 miles/h .... and the broken part pierced the tire.....

No way, lets buy best possible available springs ?

@Menno - do you know the partnumber for those rims - and which car were they fitted to? (have never seen them before)

I've always been an advocate of buying the genuine Audi springs with the correct colour dots/ weight requirements. I appreciate the additional expense involved but you will probably only buy them once and for peace of mind and safety....priceless ?

It's an old car...... And came with aftermarket fit when I bought it.
Is there a way to retrieve the correct color/spring in the jungle of color dots?

The simple way is to ring Crewe Audi and speak to Tom in the parts dept or your local Audi dealership. If you give them your registration number/chassis number they will hopefully be able to help with the correct colour dot combination for your A2. ? :)

Had wheels envy yet again, thanks for that @Menno.

Therefore I had to purchase these:

Now I’ve had my eye on a set of these since I mentioned them on the Definitive Wheel Thread. Seeing Menno’s A2 wearing these a few time snow just confirmed that I must have a set.

The part number is 4D0601025AA and they are ET45. Some 15mm adapters should allow them to fill the arch very nicely.

I’ll inspect the condition and get them refurbished if need be then clad them in a set of decent 195/50/16 tyres. Happy to receive any recommendations.

Kind regards,

Tom

Clearly spidans are suffering seemingly early life failures, hope my KYB's fair a bit better!

What sort of money are they? From A3 i guess?
Must say first time i saw them was an hour ago on the above pic and they do look well!

Evening,

I believe that they are from an A8. They are Forged Aluminium thus very light. Not quite as light as Audi Pepperpots but almost the same weight once the rubber is fitted, only slightly heavier naked but use less rubber doe to being bigger. Hope that makes sense.

There is a set currently on eBay for £280 plus shipping from Germany, the shipping is a little steep and sure it could be cheaper. They are quite rare and don’t come up for sale that offer. I won’t say what I paid but it was a steal in my opinion.

These will look amazing on an Azure Blue A2 sporting full Votex.

Kind regards,

Tom

How do A8 pcd 112 fit A2 pcd 100?

There are a few options here.

1. Get the wheels re-drilled to 5x100 which is safe to do so as they are forged (very strong and CAN be drilled).
2. Get the hub re-drilled to 5x112. Don’t know much about this.
3. Swap the hubs for a set of 5x112 hubs, don’t know which donor car is suitable and also wouldn’t know what’s involved to make sure the ABS Sensor is not compromised.
4. Fit a set of 5x100 to 5x112 adapters.

I’ll be going for option 4 as I will need the wheel ‘pushing out’ to fill the arch anyway. If I went for option 1,2 or 3 I would need to add spacers anyway so might as well do this with adapters.

Kind regards,

Tom

Can’t wait to see what they look like Tom! I bet you can’t either.

Evening dieselfan,

I did see these and was thinking about them but the shipping was just too much. There are much cheaper alternative to get them delivered to the UK.

If the seller was willing to do some more investigation to shipping and adjust the price then I’d buy them as well. More expensive than I paid earlier but still a nice price for the wheels. Might have to contact the seller actually as a certain Dolphin Grey A2 might also look good sporting these.

More than I paid for the car though, but some things are just worth the money.

Kind regards,

Tom
