1.4 tdi AMF cambelt change

Hi.

I’m wanting to change the cambelt & waterpump on a donor engine I’ve purchased. It’s a 2003 1.4 tdi AMF engine however I can’t obtain the reg or chassis number from this engine and now having problems getting the correct kit.
Would anyone know which kit I need or if I can trace the chassis number? I can see the engine number but that’s it.
Thanks

Main difference is the early AMF engines have a spring loaded tensioner ass (item 19) which locates on the arm of the large left hand pulley
This goes with the early cam belt kit. Removal of the cover would confirm you don't have the tensioner
Note the date codes are screwed up and 2004.04 - 2010.01 should read 20.04.00 to 20.12.01
Your 2003 model should use the later kit 038.190.119C which ran from 20.12.2001 to 20.08.2005

Sheffield_Matt remove the parts and take them with you to eurocarparts to compare with whats in the box of the new kit, they have done this for me before.

Thanks for your help Spike and I really appreciate this info.

The water pumps depend on chassis number but it would appear either belt kit can be fitted to the earlier engines but same water pump 045 121 011 B for early engines, its the B that makes all the difference but i dont know what the difference is?

Morning Spike.

Quick question. Is the donor 2003 AMF engine I’ve bought completely interchangeable with the 2001 AMF engine running gear and ancillaries etc?
Is it just a straight swap & I don’t need to make any other changes?
