Audi roof bar torque setting?

I've managed to acquire some genuine Audi A2 roof bars. Unfortunately they didn't come with the OEM torque tool. I've searched the forum for the correct torque setting but alas I can't see it. Would be great if you guys would kindly enlighten me ?

For those that didn't know Votex were the distributors of the roof bars ( load carriers ). It is better to stick the protective pads to the base of the supports rather than the car paintwork to prevent discolouration due to glue etc.

Evening,

I have a spare Votex roof bar torque wrench if you need one.

It’s still in the bag (opened and been used though) and works perfectly.

When I purchased my roof bars they also didn’t come with the Votex tool so I purchased one from eBay. A few months later the roof bar seller found it in his garage and sent it to me, hence I now have 2.

Let me know if you’re interested:

You’re more than welcome to it for what I paid for it August last year.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom is it a torx fitting or 6mm Allen?

If fitted correctly you are supposedly still able to use the OSS.

edited as this was not my quote but from the original sales pictures.

Evening,

That’s exactly what it is. It’s the tool supplied with each of the factory roof bars.

Here a few pictures now I have got it from the garage.

In the factory packaging:

Same again but other side:

Torque setting. 6Nm and it’s on tight enough without damaging the shell of the car:

Never, ever try it. The foot of each roof bar is shaped so that it will overlap the glass on OpenSky and you will cause damage to the glass or the mechanism or both if you try to open the roof.

I've known owners here remove fuses when roof bars are installed to make sure. Just don't try it.

Not me that was saying you can open the roof that is how it was sold. To make matters worse the user instructions contained no warning about OSS compatibility.

I fully agree, I would never try to open the OSS with the roof bars fitted, but saying that I would never fit roof bars to an OSS car anyway. NOT me stating the above that is how it was sold.

Hi Tom is it a torx fitting or 6mm Allen?
Morning,

Since I posted the pictures and offering of the tool I have had a couple of PMs asking if the tool is still available.

To keep things clear and honest I have not accepted any offers to sell it outside of your thread. Can you let me know if you’re interested in the roof bar tool as there is a queue building in the background for this.

If you decide it’s not for you it will be listed in the market area after 19:00 this evening.

I think this is the best way to remain within the rules of the market area as well as, more importantly giving you time to respond. You obviously have ‘first dibs’. I will take no response by 19:00 this evening as you’re not interested and offer it in the market area.

Hope that all makes sense as I’d. It want to upset anyone here.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom if it's the 6mm Allen type I'll take it please
Perfect,

PM incoming. I can get this out with Royal Mail this afternoon. Probably won’t be collected from the post office until tomorrow but consider this item yours.

Glad I was able to help you out.

Kind regards,

Tom
