VCDS in Devon

It can become frustrating especially if it is a new subject then to have answers coming from all directions confusing you more. Just be patient and hopefully David can confirm to you exactly what he has cable wise. When it arrives you can ask again if you need any more clarification but think I have covered it now.
Tom @2work posted the web page for the software. The version on the left is the one you downloaded. The version on the right is for Lite.
I think you have manged to cover it quite well sir, it is me who has the issue with understanding tech issues. I'm just hoping that the cable is not restricted to one computer use or I will have to take the plunge a buy it myself.

Lite REGISTERED will be limited to the laptop it was registered on i.e. licensed to. Lite unregistered is fine on all laptops. We all have had to learn at various stages so do not worry about that. VCDS really is a fantastic tool for the A2 and is about as close to the Audi software as is possible.

@Mka306 looks like you're good to go with your installed vcds lite, when the cable arrives.
Good luck, and just ask if you need a hand.
The results of each scan are auto saved in a sub folder (called diags I think) in the vcds root folder.
You can share the diag file on here.
Mac.

Thanks Mac, it should arrive Fri/Sat so I will be giving it a go then, hopefully all goes well but whatever happens it's been a learning experience already.

A quick update on this thread, I now have the full VCDS loaded onto my laptop and the port loaded and linked to the cable, I now need to go to the car and hook it up to see what I can get from the cars memory banks, hopefully it won't throw up anything major but we will see.
I will clear any codes stored and then drive for a while then recheck for any codes.
Any advice on using the VCDS as I'm clueless with this stuff so your invaluable input is much appreciated folks?

Start off with getting a scan. Then you can think about beep on locking for example.
What version of Windows are you running?
Mac.

So I've been and plugged in the laptop to the car and scanned for fault codes, the following were produced from first complete scan (they do make perfect sense) .....

00710-Defroster flap positioning motor (V107) 41-10 - Blocked or No voltage - Intermittent

01272-Positioning motor for central flap (V70) 41-10 - Blocked or No voltage - Intermittent

00716-Air recirculation flap positioning motor (V113) 41-10 - Blocked or No voltage - Intermittent

01562-Rear right door 61-00 - Won't de-safe

Radio

01305-Databus for infotainment 80-10 - Single wire operation - Intermittent

Just a few codes but most make sense and it has highlighted an issue with the climate system, I tested the air flow and it wasn't coming throuh the central vents so that does make sense also.

I'm now waiting for the reprogrammed CCCU and key fobs supplied by @A2Steve and reprogrammed by @timmus, thanks to both of you for the help on this matter, I hope this sorts a lot of the faults. I will have to look into the climate system later but it's not a big issue so it can wait. Thankfully no faults before or after clearing codes so that good news.

Glad you managed to get VCDS sorted out. Your listed results was after you cleared the stored codes I take it. All the HVAC codes are the "normal" codes. Hope the CCCU does fix most if not all the other codes although I think you may still need a few replacement parts.

Mark did you clear the codes and then see which of these came back? The sheer number of them suggests faults present but there could be some legacy one-off hiccups in there

That was after the first scan, I cleared the above codes and then a few disappeared, the door locking codes remained, the climate control flap issues remained and the Internal control module memory error remained. None of the issues that I know about have changed but I'm looking forward to the new CCCU going in and then re running the scan to see what is left.

It looks like you manually typed the above! Are you aware VCDS stores the scan results, from memory(mine), in C>Ross-Tech>logs. In there you will see your scans today by reg number (if entered at the start) or date. Just cut and paste or attach file next time you post.

Maybe you know/did this, just trying to help.

I didn't realise that so thank you I will have a look now.

There was nothing wrong with the list you typed. As you can see the VCDS report lists you VIN number, some people do not like publicising this. You could edit the report taking out the top two blocks that display the VIN. Bear in mind in the future.
