I have replaced the suspension arm rubber boots following a fail on the MOT also a cv boot. Does the retest do just the specific fails or all the rubber bits?
The dust covers were fine (your recommendation I think) although I used the old metal bits as the ones supplied were not the same quality. I splashed out on a whole new driveshaft for a total parts cost of £60.The retest is just for those items it failed on the initial test, but say you drive in with headlights on and the tester has seen a bulb out then technically it would fail and have to go thru a whole full test again. However this is very unlikely as I am sure some leniency and common sense would prevail!!
Some garages are against just fitting dust covers as they are concerned it may mask an already compromised component.
The mot simply follows the rules, so if the vehicle is represented and issues are satisfactory resolved then the only course of action is to issue a pass.
What did you think to those dust covers?
