Lite on a laptopIs this actual VCDS / lite with a laptop?
Sometimes 'not responding' issues can be resolved by adjusting the baud rate and trying to link up again. My VCDS will not speak to the ECU of our 1.4i (Magnetti Marelli), whereas my VAG401 ODB reader will without issue (and will communicate with almost all of the other ECUs including Tdi engine ECU throughout the car with one important exception - it won't talk to the Climatronic controller on any of our 3 A2s, whereas the "proper" VCDS (even lite version) will.

How do you check the baud rate?
Thanks for the info chapsAlso worth trying the vagusb98 driver from Gendan UK (Google Gendan vcds vagusb. exe download) .
Its a .exe, so will install itself. Then check the comm port it on (Device Manager). If it's on 1 - 4, that's OK, if it's on 5 up, reassign it to 1, 2, 3 or 4. Worked for me on my old XP machine.
Didn't touch comms settings, left at defaults.
Mac.
ChapsAlso how good is your battery? This does trigger communication errors. Try with the engine running to see if it communicates then.
This is beyond my ability1 - check your COM port settings at Windows Device manager, response time should be 1 ms and rate you can set 38400
2- run VCDS as admin.
Regards.
Tried 4800 & 1200 baud ratesThis is beyond my ability
The cable isDone the above
Still no response from the controller
