We would love invite you to our first social of the year - the start of season evening popular evening meal. With consistently great feed back from the membership we will be returning to the Duet Cuisine in Birmingham http://duetcuisine.com/ Always a lovely meal, Duet offers the option of having Indian, or Italian food (or mix and match, with an Indian starter and Italian main!)

The date for your diaries is Saturday 26th March. We usually book the table for 7pm and meet near the cars for a natter between 6 and 6.30 weather depending

PLEASE NOTE: Duet no longer sell alcohol, however customers are welcome to bring their own.

The Fort Dunlop location is easy to find and offers plenty of secure parking - on the same site is a Travelodge with good priced rooms
https://www.travelodge.co.uk/hotels/304/Birmingham-Fort-Dunlop-hotel?WT.tsrc=GHA_Organic&utm_campaign=GHA_Birmingham Fort Dunlop&utm_medium=GHA_Organic&utm_source=google

For anyone staying in the hotel there are normally a couple of us in the hotel cafe for a drink to catch happy hour before 6
If you haven't been before, there is a large free car park in front of hotel – drive past the hotel entrance and turn right into the car park. Take a token on entry and keep with you. We meet in the middle of the car park if weather is nice, or under cover on the left hand side if rainy)

Before leaving the car park, get your token validated by either the restaurant (if not staying over), or the hotel on checkout.

PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE RSVP ABOVE AND POST HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU WISH TO BRING..

I've signed up for this and am really hoping that my health (and that of my A2) is up to the trip. It will be good to finally meet some of those I've exchanged opinions with these past five years or so, including those I've gratuitously insulted from time to time.

Hi everyone - its getting close to the first of what will be many socials for 2022. I'd like to finalise the table soon so a quick shout out for any final additions. Looking forward to seeing you all

Morning Teresa,

Awesome work behind the scene on these event. Looking forward to this social.

No change from me attend by myself.

Surely there is more considering attending. Nice evening out, great company and awesome cars to look at. Ian @Proghound is also attending and should have a few items from the shop with him which will save you postage fees.

Get your name down.

Kind regards,

Tom

I’d love to join you but unfortunately it’s my wife’s birthday the day after and we’ve a long-standing dinner commitment elsewhere as a result. Real shame as that would have been great but hopefully see you all soon at one of the others

I would imagine that rapidly rising fuel costs along with a more general cost-of-living crisis will be discouraging some of those who might otherwise have turned out.

I've extended the registration until the end of today because I had to adjust my entry - I'll be coming on my own.

Because of health issues, I'm not going to be able to stop the night, rather I'll need to drive back to Norwich after the meal. I'll need to feel confident that I have sufficient energy to make the round trip before setting out. If I need to cancel at the last minute, will that represent a problem?

Another question, will I need to bring cash or will plastic cover everything (you can tell I've never been to Fort Dunlop before).

Thanks

Understood Steve. Hope to see you there but I don't think that's going to be huge issue booking-wise if not. Better to book too many than too few places as long as not too many drop out. Re payment methods, I've always paid on the plastic with no problem.

Hi Steve. Completely understand and as Ian says, no problem with a late drop out. It is a fair trek and understand if you don't want to risk a late drive.
We should have Stanford Hall in early May and that is a lot closer for us Norwich crew ?

I really want to go, but have a tree planting session arranged for that day around the Brecons.I could potentially make it if I organise myself. Will let you know by tomorrow the latest!

Sadly, I've had to cancel my attendance at this event, due to an increasing number of health issues as the meal has got closer. I'm really sorry, I was most certainly looking forward to finally meeting you all in person, but unfortunately it's just not going to happen.

Of course I hope that despite the very select nature of the gathering, you all have a fantastic evening.

Sorry to hear that Steve. Hope you are feeling better soon

We are only a few days away and our table is booked for 7pm on saturday.

We normally meet in the main big car park about 6pm to chat by the cars. If you've not been before (and I'm hoping nothing has changed in the 2 and a half years since we were last able to go), you take a token when you drive into the car park and get it validated by the restaurant, if heading off straight after the meal, or hotel the next morning if staying over.

The travelodge does have it's own small car park, but I tend to park Mabel in the main one.

Just as a reminder, Duet no longer sells alcohol. They are however very happy for people to bring their own.

I'm really looking forward to seeing folk again. If anyone gets stuck, lost etc, my mobile number is 07866 150664

Safe journey if you are joining us.

Morning all,

Really looking forward to the social this evening. Hopefully I’ll find a window to get the bucket and sponge out so OEM is looking it’s best, but know any A2 in any roadworthy condition is accepted at our gatherings.

I’ll be in the car park for 18:00. See you all later. Safe travels everyone.

Kind regards,

Tom
