Hi & thanks for this info. The carbon canister is meant to be a lifetime item, it shouldn't need changing. Having said that, I have changed one on an A2 1.6 FSI, when I was getting petrol smells while driving. That didn't fix the problem, then I changed the evap purge valve - that didn't fix the smell - then I finally found a tiny leak in a hose where it was clipped!
I've checked all around my canister & don't see anything obviously naff & there seems to be no smells from that area when the engine is running.
Still waiting for my Xtool scanner to arrive & then begin the search for the problem codes. Have also got a new fuel fillercap to try as well, once I can read the codes 'live' whilst driving.
Car runs just great, but have noticed that instantaneous fuel consumption figure reads 5,7L/100 when motor is idling, which seems quite a high figure.
Has anyone else checked their ins. cons. at idle & could post what their figure is, please ?? My other (non A2) cars swop to L/hour display when they idle, so I can't compare like with like.
