Today I.....

Even the chassis leg behind there is bolt on isn't it? Mr brooms did a repair like this on his papaya. Good luck what ever you choose to do, as this is rotten luck. I have a bumper but in island light green you could have

Thankfully wasn’t the Papaya but a very rare pre storm Imola exclusive.

Hi guys, I'm looking into changing the gearbox oil, I believe it's never been changed. Are the tdi and petrol required amount the same, 1.7L?
I'm gonna have to use the reverse switch to refill, as the fill plug is completely stuck, so need to know the exact amount.

Also can I reuse the drainplug or need a new one? I've got spare washers laying around.
Cheers

1.4 petrol AUA engine requires 1.9l of oil. Old plugs were ok in my case. If I remember correctly there are no washers, but I am not 100% sure about that.
Here is my experience with the replacement:

I re-used my drain plug as in good shape after a clean up, plus I purchased a good quality 17mm hex bit, though I did grab a spare in case. Others have commented on the amount of oil to use

best of luck

Justin

Hello Ed,

That looks outstanding Sir. You must be over the moon with that outcome.

Was this the service that James @jp.oog offers or someone else.

Kind regards,

Tom

Yes I sent it away, massively bubble wrapped and recored delivery. JP aclnowledged reciept, gave me a time frame and then ket me know he was posting, after sending a picture (at which point I paid. I was terrified of it getting lost in post not many heated climate panels knocking around! All in all about two to three weeks.

Thanks

Today I... got a wee wave from a fellow A2 owner in a Sea Light Silver 1.4TDi (pretty sure it was an 04' plate) here in Edinburgh, it was in fantastic condition and for the first time since giving up my previous A2 Cosmo it actually made me miss my Sea Light.

Not today, Sunday just gone.
Aw me little A2, dwarfed.
I've always found this an interesting topic.
The obsession to drive huge suvs on the roads, has been increased tenfold in the last decade, probably everywhere around the world, apart from US, they've been like that since the 60s.
Many manufactures have even been re-designing previously known sport brands to suv, like Ford Mustang Suv and like my previous car, the small sporty 2000's Puma has been remade to suv as well. Let's not forget Mr Bean's was way ahead of his time ☺

In the UK it's interesting as many roads are built rather narrow, and cars are allowed to park half road-half pavement on many busy areas as well, causing a lot of stop-wait-go traffic, so narrower the car less you wait and suvs probably are the widest daily drivers around.
Considering that and also limited parking spaces, especially on the weekends parking a huge car isn't much fun, also those cars are heavy so they use around 20% more fuel, than an estate which has the same boot size, etc, Chris Harris from Top Gear made a video about this. So to me purchasing such big suvs just doesn't make much sense really, apart from that you feel bigger and sit higher, there's literally no benefit, but true many buy it as more safety reasons for their families, which is completely understandable and great of course.
I do understand the desire people want to sit high-and-big, to be fair one of the reasons I own an A2, because it does sit a bit higher than most sedan and hatchback, of course looking at the picture above, not as high as most suvs, but it's built light and rather narrow so it doesn't have such heavy chassis to drag around.
I think it's a trend which has reached EU oddly when the fuel prices are climbing and London increasing ULEZ zones, so most big suvs with big engines don't even qualify anymore.
Of course people buy what they like/can afford and I'm happy for them, to me though, an good working A2 before any new suv. Anyway, have a good day folks.
