Today I.....

Yes the fob looks great with the new button insert. You have to be careful though as some replacement buttons have too long a "pip" to activate the buttons and continuously press one or more buttons. This causes the car and remote to go out of sync and also flatten the remote battery.

Yes, I had to "fettle" the pips when I replaced the complete case.
Mac.

Is this oil ok for a 1.4 petrol 2004 please?

A frustrating 20 minute job turning into 90 min.
Replacing the dpf *EGR* valve on a 1.4 petrol, the bolts seem a little to far apart so the old unit wouldn't come off nicely and the cheap replacement (didn't know for sure whether this was the issue) had to be persuaded on... Nevertheless it's on, run up to temps, and now the fault code has stayed away. Thank goodness it stayed off for the MOT and retest last week (ABS sensor)

Good Evening,

I thought DPF was connected with diesels???

Morning Duncan,
The ones I used was recommended by @depronman
I got them from jandrcvjoints.co.uk in Birmingham. B37 7HE
The car had done 130+ K when I got it and at least one boot was ripped and as I was doing the suspension it became while I'm in there job.
Mines an 03 TDI and the product code on the invoice is DS1240 & DS1008 & cost £142.08 in May 2023.
You can just buy each end or just the boots as required so I can always do the original ones up as spares or for another A2 😁.
Hope that helps you.
Stan.

Thanks you very much for the swift reply. I was under the impression (read somewhere) that the solid aftermarket driveshafts introduced vibration into the driveline. Best practice was to reuse the original (hollow) driveshaft and change the joints if need be. I have some vibrations in my driveline and cannot seem to find the right inner joints to battle that. So if you have got any pointers I would be very happy. TIA, Duncan

Hi Duncan,
Not sure I can help you much more on this, as I said on their website is quite a comprehensive list of options of what they supply. I can't say that I have noticed any issues with mine.

What have you changed & checked on yours as you might have a vibration issue from elsewhere like a lost tyre weight or out of balance tyre even a tyre that's out of round, I'm on pepperpot and Goodyear tyres all round, plus any worn joints / suspension. How bad is it & when does it occur what speed, acceleration, deceleration or cruising?

Today I picked up my new (to me) Akoya 1.4 petrol. OSS is only trying to open on the passenger side, biggest issue so far is the boot being full of water and mouldy carpets. Cleaned with a wet vac and will leave to dry, I'll investigate the cause of the water ingress over the next week or so, suspect the rear vents and possibly something with the trim around the tailgate.

Obligatory/gratuitous shot of the car parked up next to my R53 Mini Cooper S
