does anyone have a spare lcd screen from an old concert ii they don't mind parting with?

my display has all but faded and want to try and swap it out.

thanks in advance

Is it feasible to swap the screen? I would have thought this would entail dozens of 'micro' contact soldering, open it up and have a look, fine if you have the soldering skills. A more straightforward approach would be swap the circuit board that contains the screen, but doing this scraps another Concert which you might as well use in place of yours and scrap yours. My advice is buy another Concert, taking the oppurtunity to swap any worn buttons if this means an improvement.

I’ve got a Concert II that I have just used for the button(so they’re all pretty much goosed) there is a how to guide on how to strip one down: https://www.a2oc.net/community/inde...rn-buttons-on-a-concert-ii.35250/#post-308621
You then have a button circuit board containing the display for @roc-a-rohl. I do not know if the button circuit board from an A4 is the same as an A2 but it is worth a try. The gubbins in the main back box will be different but maybe the front button circuit board is the same.

I’m sure that the radios are all the same, it’s only the front surrounds (that are dash specific) are different hence why some people end up filing down the surrounds of other radios.

I agree they are basically the same head unit with slightly different physical dimensions on the front panel. I would expect a non A2 Concert to work fine in an A2 ( if it will go in) but there are slight differences; you will most likely not see any music information on the DIS. Further I noticed when testing an A3 Concert (it worked fine) in my A2 that VCDS refused to check out the A3 Concert, not surprising as I set VCDS at the start to scan an A2. I suppose it would have done if I lied and said my car was A3 but I was not that intrigued.

thanks all for the input. I'm not very steady with soldering so i'd look to make an easy swap as possible. I'm sure when I took it apart a few months back there was a ribbon cable attaching the screen to the circuit board.

@Disco Stu, do you happen to know if this is the case? I cant tell from the (very good) guide that's been made.

thanks

Sorry I can't remember if the LCD was on a Ribbon cable or not.

Oh and it's not my guide, so I can't take credit for it, I just don't have the patience to do a guide as good as that!

Had a look yesterday, the screen appears to be soldered onto the circuit board at certain points to the front and the ribbon cable is attached to the circuit board at the rear. Looks like it can't be undone without specialist tools:
