A further announcement A2Steve parts

Good morning all

I had been thinking of changing over to another brand for breaking for many months, so my post yesterday was not a “thought of the day”. I’d even paid a deposit in 2 MGFs.

Having seen all the positive comments I received yesterday from so many of you and a quite sleepless night thinking about it all, I’ve decided to continue with the service and stick with A2’s.

Thank you again for all your positive comments, they really were the deciding factor in my decision. It would be a real shame to lose all of that’s been built up and a garage purpose built for parts supply of A2’s.

I now need your help to find A2’s, so if you see anything you many think suitable, please get in touch.

That’s brilliant news Steve

What about this one bud ? :)

You know I’m always looking for breakers for you anyway but I guess more pairs of eyes are just better than our set Steve:)?

Don’t make Much sense but I think you know what I’m saying?

It just goes to show what a vibrant and caring site the A2OC is .... so pleasant a group of people, here! I'm also a member of "SLK World" and sometimes it might be a couple of days to get a response! Here it's probably a couple of minutes! Great that you're going to continue supplying parts, Steve!

It's great to read that you will still break A2's Steve, I'm sure I'm not the only one that's rather relieved! I agree completely, the key to continued parts supply really is for us all to help you to find more stock.

As a first suggestion, why don't we all create free Wanted ads on Gumtree and Facebook that will come up in searches of our local areas. When taking any enquiries, we should then say that we are A2OC members acting to help a club specialist in maintaining a parts supply, and either pass on your details to them or theirs to you.

I think that’s a fantastic idea mate. Fee free to just use my number 07790965448 when placing an advert.

Great for the vehicle and for us owners that you are continuing Steve. To help us "seperate the wheat from the chaff" for any potential breakers we find for you are there any key criteria you shop by when going through the adds? (Distance from SW, models, price, drivable, extras, panel condition).

Steve,

I am personally grateful of you continuing to be our prime member to supply parts for our aluminium friends.

Your parts service has been second to none along with fantastic prices and kept my work horse on the road along with adding to a few desirables.

Thank you so much for sticking around. I think your lack of breakers will hopefully be assisted by the forum keeping their beady eyes out for you.

Please do expect you inbox to fill with notifications of national unadvertised breaks for you to pick and choose from. I’ll certainly be on the look out for you.

Kind regards,

Tom

It’s essentially very much dependant on location. A high spec breaker is worth being from Scotland for instance whereas a basic SE spec car would lose money doing such. Same as a car with a few parts worth having but nothing special is worth buying if it’s within about 50-75 miles.

Great news Steve ?
BTW given that there is a decrease in availability - another option (you have probably already considered) is an increase your parts prices to allow
a. You to make a little more from each car and/ or
b. An increase in budget for obtaining cars

Here is a bit of a ramble but it portrays my thoughts:
For example, over here in N. Ireland it isn't too easy to obtain A2 parts from the breakers, one reason yourself and the forum is great.
However a dark green one did appear in breakers local to me. I was getting some parts for an A4 and thought I'd get a rear light for the A2 while I was at it. The rear light was £30, that seems to be his standard price as the A4 front headlight was the same price. On the forum here I see them at roughly £15. Even with postage these is scope for an increase here.

I would even order parts from yourself (or the forum) if there were the same price (or even more) as the local breaker as:
1. Travelling to the breaker, waiting til they bring the car round to view and then subsequently remove the parts you are interested in potentially takes a long time. (OK some breakers will still allow you to go and have a nose/ remove some parts yourself - but not this one!)
2. The local breaker is not always willing to remove awkward or small or low value parts - you are very flexible in helping here.
3. Removal technique may not be ideal - risk of damage, wheres you are well used to removing things properly

So, to me the additional benefits that your service offers is definitely worth a premium. If this premium helps you to keep the venture going them I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I would support that.

Steve, The day just got a bit brighter!

I really hope this change of heart turns out to be the right decision for you and not just the club.

I'd been going to say some things along the lines of both these points. So a resounding "Hear hear" from me for all the above ?

Thanks for the advice John. I’ll continue to do parts as cheap as I can, but I do take your point.

This is a huge relief. Great to hear you've decided to stick to what you know. As always i will search for suitable breakers for u.
Best of luck
Steve
