*solved* asr abs speedo power steering fault

Hi, if you haven't checked it, there is a known issue where a sharp weld in the body can cause damage to the wiring and short out the main power to the power steering. This causes the fuse to blow and loss of power assist etc. See this thread for more details...

    Brief Encounter at The Phirm

"Porting" means modifying the intake and exhaust passages in the cylinder head to improve gas flow. Typically production cars have a heads which are cast from metal and only machined on mating and sealing surfaces due to cost. This means that the passages though which the gasses flow can have a...

    Brief Encounter at The Phirm

Hi, I hadn't see the Silverstone Socials post, but I have now. Do Socials threads not appear on the front page? The 19th clashes with something else but I will see if that can be changed. I haven't been to a social since 2019 so its probably about time. Yes my A2 1.4 was at The Phirm today for...

Vcds or vag com for abs

I haven't needed to replace one myself so I don't know if the full fault code is more specific, but you can display the realtime speed reading of each wheel with VCDS. That would identify which one isn't sending the correct speed when driving and let you know which needs replacing. Your profile...

What is this part in an AUA engine? SOLVED - oil separator

There are rubber seals on the two ports between the plastic box and the engine block which can shrink with age and leak. They are realativly inexpensive from Audi. However, my oil separator cracked (i.e. the plastic) and that caused an oil leak. Twice, when I bought my AUA in 2012, it had a...

Where is the MAP Sensor located??

Hi, there is something wrong in this picture which might explain your poor running. On the metal pipe with the yellow plastic on the end, I can see that the pipe is open at the end. This is the standard oil dipstick tube on the engine which would be used in other cars. On the A2, the dipstick...

Festival of warning lights and beeping!

The gaskets on the throttle body and EGR valve are single use metal crush gaskets. They aren't meant to be re-used but in the past they obviously have been and as they had not functioned correctly on re-use, the extra sealant was a bodge the make the old gaskets work.

Another thread about a misfire on cylinder 2 (1.4 AUA engine)

For correct combustion you need the right amount of air, the right amount of fuel (with good fuel atomisation), good compression and a good spark. As you have checked the spark, that leaves the others. If the other cylinder are behaving themselves then the air might be OK. You would get codes...

Festival of warning lights and beeping!

The fuel tank EVAP system collects petrol vapors and under the control of the valve shown in your photo above adds them to the engine intake to burn. The fuel system is normally sealed so the vapors don't escape and cause pollution. If you have as leak somewhere, when the ECU opens the EVAP...
