And finally, the tow bar arrives from Germany tomorrow - that’s a job for the end of December. It seems expensive, but still cheaper than fitting one to the family car. À bientôt …

And after some to and fro with timmus (thanks for your patience Tom) we have dates sorted for Phase 1 at least - fitting the double din, RNSE, MMI, cruise and lumbar. That should be an enjoyable drive home from Lancaster.

And last week I was fortunate to be passing Tom’s ( 2work )place. So popped in to collect my trimmed and updated RNSE-PU - and have a cuppa and chat. Thanks again Tom, I’ll do the big reveal once it’s fitted!

A few more steps along the way … The seats have been thoroughly brushed and cleaned with leather detail which of course you can’t see, but makes the car smell like a sadler’s shop. And a few bits arrived by the postie. Hard touch climate panel will need to be trimmed to fit the double din...

Good choice! Great quality suspension, brakes and tyres will make it faster, nicer and more satisfying to drive. The original sound system is really good, find a way to hook your phone up. None of that needs anything different from original equipment, except a £30 Bluetooth receiver.

… removed my drivers side lock again, reflowed the solder joints, and added the special cornflake box packing to the micro switch. Now it knows it’s open, closed, locked or unlocked. Took the chance to swap in the first of the back door cards as well.

Anyone ever dealt with online tyre retailer "Round Trip Tyres"?

Asda tyres are consistently the cheapest in my experience.

    Project LNO

Had some time yesterday to investigate the Webasto - it’s all running fine but just not firing up. I suspect the combustion chamber and glow plug are all gummed up (as they were in my old SII Landrover.). So I’ll need to get that out to investigate. To help out I replaced the Thermostat...

    Webasto weirdness

Sitrep … It’s getting fuel, but not lighting, despite several VCDS and fuse out resets. So next step is to remove it and clean out the combustion chamber, and test the glow plug. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Yep - to create enough space to get it to fit.

Those seats are lumbar too - so a bit more wiring required to get them fully functioning. I’ll be heading to see Northern Tom for a Bose retrofit once the new dash and RNSE are in, I’ll add that to the list. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Next task is to see if I can fix the Webasto, which is behaving oddly (see ‘Webasto weirdness’ thread).

A couple of weeks ago, Craig messaged me that he had some alcantara sports seats coming - so without hesitation I snapped those up. I picked them up on Weds heading home from work, and got to fit them today - very comfy and very pleased. At the same time I picked up a double din dash, and...

    Project LNO

We’re back in the game. Rob and Marcus took little LNO under their wing. First issue was to sort the turbo. It was this: It must have dropped down the EGR exhaust connector and lodged in the vanes. Allowing them to turn about 270deg but no more. So off come the turbo and away to...

    Webasto weirdness

Well it’s that time of year, isn’t it? I have one of the last AMF cars with a Websato, and it ain’t working. I can run the output tests using VCDS Lite, and all work - the pump clicks reassuringly and stops after about 10 seconds, the fan whirs etc. But when I try and run the test fire (block...
