Getting CAN-Bus from the instrument cluster to the radio takes two wires, four connectors (of the correct size), a green mini-iso plug and someone with access to VCDS to enable the radio. Easy/peasy. No need for emulators.

Did you replace the bolts if you had the subframe out? They are stretch bolts... On mine, the previous owner had "forgotten" this at some point. I had squeaks when accelerating and braking. After replacement and correct tightening the squeaking vanished.
