Goodbye little Audi hello another Volvo

It has been just over three years for me since moving from an A2 to an XC90 D5 for similar reasons. And yet I'm still here everyday! I know @Proghound also has the same fondness for A2s and Volvos, so there's probably some others out there as well. I'd love to be back in an A2 but that's just...

    Quality Service Parts

I was browsing for a pair of Sachs 314125 shocks and was surprised when Halfords had the best deal for them. I must look for my trade card!

Yet another Rear Coil Spring Query: 78004 T0713470?

I thought that 78004 number looked familiar. I had similar springs fitted on the rear of my A2. I ditched them for the originals though as they were too low for my liking. The For Sale thread is here. One of the commenters suggested it might be Kilen-branded springs?

    Rattle passenger footwell?

I can't be sure of where it is exactly, but it's been mentioned before it could be the bonnet. Hope this helps.

    What are the chances? 😬

Perhaps a calling to get back into an A2...soon! 😬

    A2 3D Model

Some more information that I've managed to find online: I work at Coventry University in fluid dynamics but this project was done before I joined. I can ask around but I doubt I'll be able to get anything. If you're looking into CFD work, perhaps start with the Ahmed body?

    A2 3D Model

    I haven't been through this link myself, but it's a start I suppose. https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/modifying-cd-on-the-a2-from-0-288-to-0-204-coventry-university.19272/

Spotted tidy Dolphin Grey on 54 plate in Coventry

Tidy Dolphin Gray on 17" sports wheels in Cheylesmore. No badge; lowered my window to hear for potential 3 pot diesel sound (😂) which wasn't there, so must be one of the petrol engines.

Wheels on the A2 go round and round?

    Hello from Sweden

Hello and welcome, I encountered something similar and it had something to do with the ignition barrel. If everything else is good (battery, earth cable), I guess attempting something similar to the video in this post is worth a go. Hope this helps and good luck!

    Torque Pro

I don't have a neat screenshot of my screen setup but I use Torque Pro for its data logging capabilities, shared here.

Engine light not showing at ignition

Some TDIs have the EML, some do not. Discussion here.

    Quirky cars?

Indeed, it's a facelifted Proton Saga, the Saga Iswara. In fact, the whole shell was Mitsubishi. This Mitsubishi to be precise, which I snapped just last weekend at my local Lidl: Notice how the doors, wing mirrors, and front and rear arches are identical.

    Quirky cars?

I ran this, from new, for the first 15 years / 120,000 miles of getting my license. Left me by the side of the road only once in that time due to me fitting a low-quality ignition distributor (fitted the original back on and it was fine). Powered by a carburetted 1.5-litre 12-valve SOHC...

Looking for ideas to affix graphite electrodes to a copper block

That's an interesting idea. Certainly hasn't crossed my mind yet. At the moment we're testing a much simpler setup. We had 3 mm diameter holes drilled 10 mm deep and it provided a snug fit for the graphite rods. Something about the copper being tight when machined; I'm not sure what my tech...

Looking for ideas to affix graphite electrodes to a copper block

It's a scaled-down model of the aluminium smelting process. :D

The authoritative OBD Scan soft- and hardware thread

I like TorquePro for its data logging capabilities. It's not high frequency by any means but can be helpful in diagnosing some issues. And it's cheap! Here, I've plotted the data from a run on my D5 Volvo to compare the logged values against the design values for, amongst other reasons, to...

Looking for ideas to affix graphite electrodes to a copper block

We are actually looking at methods of suppressing the oscillations. This setup is a physical model of the aluminium (hey, it is A2-related after all!) smelting process. The oscillations are losses in the aluminium smelting process.
