16955 brake switch fault (but probably not brake switch)

So…… re-fitted the original switch again. Lights working correctly! Switch must be on its way out I guess. I have a replacement on its way from A2Steve. Will see how it goes…. thanks again for all the helpful comments.

16955 brake switch fault (but probably not brake switch)

Thanks for all the responses. Regarding fitting of the switch, to re-set it, I assume that means pull the plunger fully out before fitting? I did that, but will give it another go………..

16955 brake switch fault (but probably not brake switch)

Yes, i double checked the bulbs. With switch unplugged nothing happens, lights off. As soon as I plug the switch in, the lights go on, even without pressing the pedal.

16955 brake switch fault (but probably not brake switch)

I tried a replacement Febi brake light switch but the issue persisted so I put the original switch back in. I replaced both bulbs - one looked a bit iffy, filament wasnt broken but didn't look right. Bulbs seemed slightly loose too. The warning light then went off and brake lights worked fine...

I've re-set the switch travel. Not sure the wiring is damaged. I carefully removed switch and replaced it

16955 brake switch fault (but probably not brake switch)

The warning light is back on - flashing glow plugs. I've replaced both rear bulbs and checked fitting is correct and no issues with any corrosion on the bulb holders. I've changed the fuse. I've removed the brake light switch, cleaned it and re-fitted it. Now brake lights are constantly on! I...

16955 brake switch fault (but probably not brake switch)

I’ve been having very similar problem. For some time the blown brake light bulb and alarm would come on, even though all brake lights were working. For the last couple of weeks EML has been on constantly. About a week ago I had the flashing glow plugs light whilst driving. Borrowed a mates cheap...

Rattle at tick over. DMF or thrust bearing?

I had mine done around 6 or 7 years ago and it was £800 so £1000 now would seem about right. Mine is an early 2005 tdi90, had done around 70k at the time, just coming up to 140k and going strong….. One more thing, and others will likely confirm or otherwise, oil pump balancer chain is worth...

    Coolant leak tdi90

The car is in the garage today. Just had a call. The radiator bottom hose is split. They can't source a replacement. Any ideas for an after-market one, or does anyone have a decent one sitting around? Not sure of part number!

Had water pump changed a couple of years ago. Also had thermostat and sensors changed last summer. No issues then.
