    Odd request for skoda info

Did not work, not as described. Been on the road again today, pretty much have a deal on a Kodiaq. And it snowed and there was a mostly empty car park... entrance and exit were both sideways :)

    Quality shocks and springs

if you're going to measure, measure from the center of the wheel to the arch. Only that way can you exclude tyre size differences from the ride height ones.

    Odd request for skoda info

well, mine's about to be replaced. A test drive tomorrow should say whether it will be with another one (this again from 2018, but with <60k kms on the clock) or something else. My current one is an Ambition 4x4 150 TDI from 2018 with 190000kms on the clock, and I've done >70k of those. Can't...

    Replacing an A2?

My A2 was "replaced" - well, retired is a better word - with an Octavia (boot space, rear seat space, 1.0TSi for economy), then another Octy but in estate form, and now for the last 2 years I've been driving a Superb 4x4 TDI. it's a world away from the A2 - but I've done over 70k kms in that...

No engine brake when using cruise control

to my understanding the implementation is the same on all A2s. Exception being no cruise available on the 1.2s.

No engine brake when using cruise control

if cruise is off, there is engine braking. If cruise is engaged, there is no engine braking. whether it should or not, that's what it does. The cruise is only working through keeping the accelerator open, it never closes completely.

No engine brake when using cruise control

no, it's been like this since the beginning. The diesels have less of an issue with it IIRC. yes, but cruise is on, and it controls only to try and keep the speed consistent. Superb does the same thing, as does the SX4 and the Octavias both behaved in exactly the same way. If there's active...

No engine brake when using cruise control

normaalin a2-tapaan. Yes, this is standard behaviour for A2s.

    Today I.....

oh, the A2 had 8V when i measured it the other day, so before track it went onto the ctek for a while... now to see what the voltage is when i check after a week or so of being in sleep mode. But I need to be able to get into the hall, and that means shifting about 18" of snow.

    Today I.....

Actually, yesterday... I got used as a guinea pig for this machinery's first laps :) roll on IT25... probably 15+16 Feb 2025... and yes, we had 3 A2s around, lots of quattros, some Haldex, and ancient Subaru and a lovely Coupe with the 5-cylinder. Nom!

iPad in place of music system.

I would be looking for a decent DSP with BT in that rather than an all-in-one. Like a GZDSP 4-8XII or Helix DSP Mini with the BT module.

iPad in place of music system.

the class ABs in the A2 pull around 700W for 350W output; the Class D in the Superb pulls around 1800W for 1600W out. Efficiency 90% vs 50% is a big deal in car audio. The new stuff actually sounds OK, too.

iPad in place of music system.

no. the amps inside are digital, class D / G / H rather than A or AB. It's about efficiency. PWM is the keyword. the rest? use a BT DSP amp and be done with it, will be much easier and you can do a complete digital chain through to the speakers.

    Remote heating via fob

a €1000 option, yes. I have had something similar on my Skodas for the last three cars and 8 years. Great thing, you just need to be careful to drive for as long as you heat or you'll drain the battery. Eberspächer and Webasto did make systems for the A2, but the pricing is not low; mains...
