    A 2nd A2 for me - project FSI

What an incredibly informative and inspiring thread - I will be following in your footsteps :)

Low compression on FSI one cylinder.

I had hoped so but putting oil into the cylinder improved the compression :( That said I am going to drive it for a bit as these engines are incredibly sensitive to oil. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Low compression on FSI one cylinder.

Happy Sunday… well having managed to make the fuel and air system work properly, it turns out that the underlying fault is low compression in cylinder #4. Does anyone have any experience or dealing with this please? I assume as injecting oil into the spark plug hole that it’s replace rings. Can...

    What is this sensor please?

Now that makes sense. Thank you :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What is this sensor please?

Sorry, yes you are right the yellow thing is the crank case breather pipe; the bit I can’t work out is the thing that is plugged in next to the cambelt cover. It looks like it should be a camshaft sensor, but the camshaft sensor is in fact on the other end of the cam cover near the high pressure...

    What is this sensor please?

Good evening. Long time member but have been absent after ex wife left with the A2. It broke down and she gave it back!!! I mistook this sensor for the cam position sensor. What is it please? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Changed ingition barrel now the immobiliser light is flashing and the remote won't work

Good quesiton AudiFan - the old barrel collapsed and I couldn't get the removal process to work. I had to chisel out the broken parts of the lock to make the old key work temporarily before I got the new bit. So have had to take this route. In any event, the immobiliser is disabled in the...

Changed ingition barrel now the immobiliser light is flashing and the remote won't work

Ok, so the alarm kept going off... I have taped the old key end (the bit without the buttons on) to the old immobiliser ring and tucked it into the plastic shrouding. That did the trick - all the buttons work on the new key and all I now have to do is order another couple of key ends (sans...

Changed ingition barrel now the immobiliser light is flashing and the remote won't work

Good evening - I wonder if anyone has any intelligence on this please? I have changed the ignition switch (lock stock and barrel) after the other one fell to pieces. That was fun, drilling out the old shear bolts, but I persevered. As far as I can tell, the black immobiliser ring doesn't...

To clean or replace lower manifold on 1.6FSI

I’m sure now that you are right, Mac, thank you. I presume that this can’t be done with VCDS lite? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To clean or replace lower manifold on 1.6FSI

No I’m still getting intermittent P1031 I suspect because the flaps are stiff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To clean or replace lower manifold on 1.6FSI

Right, after about £850 worth of parts from the excellent DeutscheParts (I'm not connected, just like dealing with them) £120 worth of vapour blasting from https://www.fwdvapourblasting.co.uk/ in Colchester, and nearly three weekends of spannering (it wasn't just the manifolds) we're back on...

URGENT HELP PLEASE! 1.6 FSi cooling problem - head gasket?

Sorry to jump on an old thread but it's more economical than starting a new one... I have had exactly the same symptoms: firstly a rubber hose blew, then it was the black pipe of death. Luckily I had a fuel injector, cambelt and water pump to replace so the job wasn't so bad... Annoying that...

To clean or replace lower manifold on 1.6FSI

That’s what they use : vapour with some media. I’m going to pick up at lunchtime, so will try to share some pictures later. In the meantime, does anybody have any experience of fitting the manifold flap actuator with the lower manifold in situ? There is a chance that the one I have ordered may...

To clean or replace lower manifold on 1.6FSI

I will see if they can be clear about the process they use. I’m not sure if they’re going to let me be there whilst they do it to take pictures… The reason I am not DIY (having completely DIY dismantled the engine so far) is because I reckon that part of the stiffness is soot getting into the...

Thanks Mac - I'm going to try this lot: they're nice and close and seem to be the ticket. https://www.fwdvapourblasting.co.uk/

To clean or replace lower manifold on 1.6FSI

Good evening chaps - Well after the second fuel injector failure on my wife's FSI, I have the lower inlet manifold off, which was cleaned and the actuator replaced by A2Cars 5 years ago. Really simple question: should I replace the lower manifold or just get it professionally cleaned? All...
