1,2 TDI clutch/ gearbox problems

thanks for your reply RAB

1, I do Adaptation and clutch travel sender is ok, 1.9 v

2, gear actuator adaptation, I have doubts about the fall of the gear actuator nut and tighten it with zero potential?

where is this nut, is there a photo?

Why the change moves the lever from P to R without pressing the brake pedal, turned out the light and why?

thanks RAB

The gear actuator nut is underneath - you have to remove the undertray. It connects the actuator to the gearbox. Just loosen and re-tighten.

The green brake icon only shows in P & N, not in R or D, so it's not a problem.

hello RAB

I've done more tests

1'st, I make the adjustment and clutch travel sender it´s ok, v 1.9

2'st, I can not make the adjustment gear actuator and the error appears RTFM - 12.

I still do not get to do this function.

however I did some more tests to gear selector, which are at the following link

http://www.a2-freun.de/forum/showthread.php?t=20663&page=3

in the basic functions,

Group 22, only the 1st field, is running in the 2nd field sensor g272, values are the zeros in the 3rd field, is zero%

in group 15, the values are also zero volts

in group 16, the values are also zero volts

seems to me that the lever does not communicate, is faulty.

what is your opinion?

thank you RAB

Check the connections to the controller, under the floor RHS.

It looks as though you have a leak where the hydraulic lines connect to the control unit. Disconnect the electrical plug connected to the control unit, depressurise the accumulator by turning it half a turn and dismantle the assembly. You probably only need a new set of O-rings, if that's the only problem!

Replacing everything is the usual response when they don't know what they are doing! In one instance the gear actuator was changed twice when all that was needed was a new accumulator! It looks to me as if the plate that holds the hydraulic lines in place under the control system is not doing its job - I can see parts I shouldn't be able to see! So it's little wonder that you are having problems changing gear!

New Lupo 3L

A new question for this thread (which is a good read and got my first 3L running thanks, but now I bought another). So I have a Lupo 3L with selector issues. During adaptation (with Vag Com), I loosen the nut, and the arm falls loosely down. The "Zero Potential" doesn't refer to voltages in measuring blocks, is that correct? It just means loosen, let the arm position its self, then retighten. The end measuring block had 2.9v in it which was confusing, but I just ignore that, right?

When adaptation is finished, I get RTFM code 12. I took the pump off, fitted it to the other 3L and took it for a drive, It was OK, and I was getting 3 to 4 shifts between it re-pressurising. Any ideas what this might be? The car is "resting" in a public car park at the moment.

Sorry John I can't help with your problem but couldn't help laugh when I read you got RTFM code 12
I only know RTFM as "Read the flipping manual"
Quite ironic really ;)

The second option is correct, just loosen the nut and re-tighten. Make sure that the rod doesn't move with reference to the linkage while tightening. If it does that might well cause RTFM 12.

Hello,
I need help, I have a 3L that was working more or less OK, meaning without problems but not super smooth - no setting was done since a wild (maybe since the gearbox have been changed 100.000 kms ago).
So I adjust the clutch, very easy, from 1.81V to 1.93V
Then I just wanted to do the creep point, but I read on Ross tech we should do the 3 operations one after the other; so I start the Basic Settings.
I use VCDS and here is the mistake I've done. Instead of typing "014" in "04 Basing Settings" I used the "plus" button until to arrive to 014.
The gear actuator was making all kind of noise so by panic I switch off the car.
Then I tried again, correctly this time to "014", but it shows "RTFM!", I moved the liver and of course this put a mess in the settings and it all went wrong.
I manage to check the clutch again by opening the accumulator to release pressure, and it's still 1.93, but otherwise, what ever I do, it remain about 4V and the car wont start.
The errors I have are "00844 Switch for selector lever gate recognition -F257-" & "00846 Switch for selector lever Stop-recognition -F259-", this last one does not appears any more, just the 00844.
I check the value block 022, and indeed when I move the liver it does not recognize correctly all the positions.
There is no way the liver have "just now" connections issues, is there a way I can re-program correctly the liver ?
What should I do to restart the basic setting from the bottom ?
Thank you very much !
