1.4 BHC - Stubborn engine related noise ...

And have you checked this fuel pipe with silencer ?
No I haven't check this fuel pipe yet. I'll put my phone next to the pipe all around and record the video to confirm. If it's the pipe it'll be pretty obvious from vibration you can see and hear.

Hmm - I was just thinking how to check this pipe alone - I might just try to do it with a phone :)

So a little update:

I went under my A2 yesterday for further investigation - still did not found any reasonable source for the rattle (when standing in front of the car with the bonnet out, or lying below the engine compartment the rattle is either impossible to distinguish from the engine noise or not there...).

Tried to press/hold/watch the fuel hose with the silencer on it - but this has no effect on the rattle (i.e. when the rattle is there, squeezing this hose does not effects it).

Definitely it is not sourced from the gearbox area...

The only suspicious thing I noticed it that the auxiliary belt tensioner pulley very very close to the metal timing belt cover element - I have to investigate is further ...

Blast! When you did timing belt did you do the water pump too? Clutching at straws really but have known water pumps to make a similar noise but usually it's not long after that things develop catastrophically so doubt it really

Water pump was changed together with the timing and oil pump chain …
I was sure that this rattle came from this chain but replacing it together with the tensioner and sprockets changed nothing …

How many silencers do you have on your hose? I believe there were two versions. Earlier cars had just one and then later they added another one. I think that's the reason why this simple rubber hose cost over 100 quid

I have the single silencer one …
